Are you? I said I thought you were despite just having stuffing mix for dinner.....
Yes, this is how I've lived a lot of my life. Even when in work things have always been tough, so this is quite normal for me :)

If it makes you feel better ..... I've now got a belly full of hot steamed potato/cheese/beans and am sweating!

I didn't understand the earlier comment about the spices swamping the flavour of chicken. I always thought the point of chicken was it was almost tasteless.
The point was that it wasn't a knowledgeable chef putting well chosen spices onto a chicken to enhance it .... it was somebody swamping a chicken with way too much of 3-4 ill-matched spices such that you couldn't taste the chicken, all you could taste was a bunch of badly matched, OTT, out of date spices.

And ... chicken does have a taste and it's nice.

I like the taste of chicken - but then because we eat little salt we can still taste other flavours.

Central London had hail and thunder, Inner Herts had enough snow to temporarily cover the ground and hail this evening twice already.

Our leccy bill is 420 a year, our gas bill is 1200. Our thermostat is outside not inside then there is a clever computer screen where you adjust the curve and threshold and it does the rest, boiler modulates from 4kw to 20kw and tries to run in fully condensing mode as much of the time as possible. All the rads have thermostatic valves so we keep the bedrooms slightly cooler,
    I think....

If your missus left you and you lost your job .... that'd be half your JSA gone just on those two bills!

Well, I think they aren't for keeping a house to that temp, especially big open plan spaces.

Todays forecast for our heating/hw bill for the finished house at today's prices was two k. I mean, that's presuming people aren't 'pass another dog please dear' types. Otoh, we're not proposing making kids share baths on that forecast ;) and it was done on 21 degrees :rotfl:. Being realistic I doubt this house would attain twenty one degrees as it stands now very easily anyway, (new part probably would) and we wouldn't expect it to. Because we don't have corridors we're limited as to which downstairs try's can be switched off to best effect really, but the ones in refurbed bit will probably be on low, while the other rads (mainly no trvs ) are just 'on' or off.

If you sit still and don't open doors/move about and cause heat loss :)
£3k if you let the dogs out to widdle twice a day.

Our electricity is £61 per month and oil is £187 per month. Logs are £120 I think.

Michaels should go onto the other boards and post fuel bills and ask if that's good/reasonable ... then Spirit quickly post her figures and say it's amazing/don't know how your bills are so low.

Then sit back and watch them pile in for the next 3 months on how to heat an entire house with 3 plantpots, recycled cereal boxes and £4.

When I looked at our bank a/c to see how much our fuel bills are I also spotted that standing order payment had gone in today from our daughter to repay us for a car loan.

I need to remind her to cancel it as the loan is now paid off:T. The SO was set up two years ago when we paid 50% of what was needed and loaned her 50%.

Mmm what happens for the next car ..she saves up, she borrows commercially or bank of M&D? What would NP do?

If I am facing impending reduced circumstances I may well be grateful for such advice, or tealights in plant pots, or fleece blankets. micheals will be my guru.
