When I looked at our bank a/c to see how much our fuel bills are I also spotted that standing order payment had gone in today from our daughter to repay us for a car loan.

I need to remind her to cancel it as the loan is now paid off:T. The SO was set up two years ago when we paid 50% of what was needed and loaned her 50%.

Mmm what happens for the next car ..she saves up, she borrows commercially or bank of M&D? What would NP do?

    Good for her.

Does she need a new car?

Doesn't her need depend on her next move and plans? Committing to a new car/loans of any sort might be foolish if she gets a job in a city or wants a stint in a job overseas for example.

My parents once bought me a 2nd hand sit-up-and-beg style ladies bike to get to/from school... cost them £5.

Got their money's worth, I was using it to cycle 6 miles to work still when I was about 19.

Yes, this is how I've lived a lot of my life. Even when in work things have always been tough, so this is quite normal for me :)

If it makes you feel better ..... I've now got a belly full of hot steamed potato/cheese/beans and am sweating!

OH says good, that sounds more like a proper dinner...but have something green with it too ;) Y'know, to keep up your anti-oxidant levels.

We switched to Eon (though I think they all rob us in different ways with diff tariff tricks) but the online thing is cool. I did a 24 hour reading with our new system and said we spend £4.67 per day (for both) but we have now stretched the heating 'opening hours' a bit more plus I have no proper kitchen just a 2 ring hob, no dishwasher nor washing machine or the new under-floor heating in it.

I guess when house is done and all the new whizzy electrical/gas gadgets are installed (like a proper cooker ;)) it could treble.

I reckon the next 12 months will be approx. £1800 - £2000 for both?

Cooking greens is the luxury of people who don't have their washing drying 3' away .... and aren't sleeping 8' away. Greens pong .... a LOT.

Bank of M+D if you have it spare...why give away money as interest to a stranger?...keep it in the family.

I'll have to get a job. When they ask "why do you want to work here?" I'll go deadpan and say "You've got heating ...... "

No, no freezer bit. I've never had spinach - don't fancy it :)
I like the pongy greens: cauli, cabbage, brussels, broccoli.

In the past I've had dinners that were just 1/3rd of a cabbage - with gravy.

BOMAD with (at current rates) about 3% interest.

That way she gets a better rate than from the bank and you get a better rate on your savings. Win/win.

I'm not a great believer in giving loans to even close family without building in some interest, unless I was very close and it was a crisis as there is always a loss of opportunity with your money.
