I must be more like my mother than I think I am. Although her thermostat is at 14 degrees (it's warmer in the kitchen, because of the Aga). We don't have ours on at all at night or during the day, it's on from 7am until 9am, and 5pm until 11pm. At 18 degrees.
Lots of the 'new' heating systems work best by having heating on all the time but at low temps, The low temps I am used to , the 24/7 takes some gulping over and getting used to.0 -

Lots, site meeting with architect for various, plus site meeting with heating engineers and electrician. Hasty phone call to the electric people. Discussions about plastic temporary piping. ( doozergirl will know if plastic was discussed in my house things are grave indeed)0 -

Well done to mini Spirit:T
Good luck with the tests Gen.
Depressing mode on, Mr Bugs is down to 6 stone 9 from 8 stone 3 at the start of Oct, and unless something radical happens, he's going to fade quietly away. He is having sub cut fluids, so he won't die of dehydration.
I'm as comfortable with that as you can be and I trust the staff at the nursing home to make sure that he's as comfortable as he can be.
It's good you feel that way about the staff there. That is so thin too. Did they give you a timescale ? Thinking of you at this difficult time.lostinrates wrote: »Well, also in lighter news I'm having a good day.
I also dreamt about the rude fur coat. It was warm and soft and I was wearing it on the tube with a really nice pair of boots and I got the hem of it caught in the escalator. I would never buy fur, even if I could afford to. I think I am feeling guilty for liking it.
The one you linked to on Ebay was lovely...why not get that one?
When I'm training properly on the bike I'll eat pasta arrabiatta twice a week.
The first dish I really taught myself to cook was a ragu sauce. I picked up one of those cook in sauces in the supermarket and bought all the ingredients on the label that weren't chemicals before returning the jar to the shelf. It tasted ok and I refined it from there.
I have whole reams of thread that will try to catch up on but the salt thing I really notice........if I do buy the M+S stuffing we all notice the saltiness and prefer the homemade one.
I upgraded on tinned toms a couple of years back and found it costed up the same as I just had to add puree to get the right consistency when using the smart-price ones.
I bulk buy Napolina on offer, same as Dooz..
Never, ever bought a white sauce as I learnt how to make it in school when I was 12 and it's been such a useful skill...:o0 -
I have too many school runs today. I took DD to school this morning. On the way there she remembered that she brought her PE kit home on Monday, caked with mud, but didn't tell me about it, and she needed it for netball after school. So I went back at 3.15 to deliver the PE kit. I am now about to go back and collect her at 4.15. Then at 6.00 I shall have to take her to Brownies, and at 7.15 I'll need to pick her up. That's 5 journeys, total 20 miles.
I don't like days like that. I have three runs a day. Morning run is 18 miles as I am able to drop DD on the way back. I have to collect her at 3.15, that is just over 6 miles. Some days I collect DS at 4, so we'll drive straight on and wait, otherwise it's 5 or 6 o'clock so we do the 18 miles again. I'm used to it, but extra journeys are killers. Needless to say, I don't like it when they forget things!
We had an individual tour of chewy's old school today for DS and put in our application.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

That all sounds exhausting - fortunately for me, my school run today was easier than that - it's about a 7 minute walk with Isaac, and a 5 minute walk without him....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

A heating engineer once told me that 20 degrees in winter would feel colder than 20 degrees in Summer, don't know why.
The temperature you need to set your thermostat may depend on where it is sited. I know in this house the thermostat must be in a warm spot because it needs to be high to keep the rest of the house warm.PasturesNew wrote:Do you need a new/improved input feed, coming from 3 miles away, to run it?
I thought every house would have the same sort of electricity supply, until my parents found out once that their garage had 3 phase electric in it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Forgot to comment on this before. Sub cut fluids work quickly and well. Still thinking of you.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
