Our Asda is just a normal supermarket. The staff are *always* really friendly, I think they have a good recruitment policy. In London, Asda stores (I went in one once) were horrid.
Ours are ok. My complaint is lots of ours are tiny. We have a really big morrisons about 25 mins away, a huge waitrose about 45 mins away, and a big tescos more locally, but the other ones are all the ones that are either small or merely 'not big'. But we have loads of choice among those smaller ones.
They are friendly at asda, waitrose and mainly at tescos here. I find sainsburies iffy.0 -
Just think of Generali and all the snuggling up that is coming his way, he posted that his bed is going have the benefit of at least one of his children climbing in to be kept safe from the storm they were expecting.
The snuggling cup runneth over last night.
We had The Boy in at about 3am (to be fair, the thunder clap woke me up too and I always sleep through storms) but Fairy Princess Warrior #1 didn't show up until about 7am.
It also turns out that in the event of a downpour of near-biblical proportions our house leaks rather badly. The estate agent got an email from Mrs Generali about that.
Shop staff are actually pretty nice in Aus as a rule, if as vacant as anywhere else. I think the reason for that is the customers are nice to them. You don't get these self-entitled rants from Australian customers as a rule which punctuated my brief career in retail in the UK. You certainly don't get the You are a pleb because you work in a shop. I am thus better than you and may speak to you in any way I see fit.
In England I have occasionally picked up fellow customers on the way they deal with shop staff. It really annoys me when someone yells at a shop employee because someone in head office made a rule that the customer doesn't like. What do they expect someone on minimum wage to do about it? Rude idiots. It's hardly surprising that shop staff then treat their customers with barely suppressed hatred in return.0 -

But you'll feel better in a few months. Well, sort of...then you'll be really tired for a while :rotfl:
How big is the poppyseed now?
I'm looking forward to that. Not feeling sick, I mean!
At the 12 week scan, it was 5.9cm long from the top of the head to the bottom of the bottom (they measured it). On average, it will now be about 8.5cm - 8.9 cm, from head to ar4e. It's growing fast (-:
The next couple of weeks are going to be quite stressful - OH's going to Scotland on Monday evening, not back until Friday night, and Sam's away on holiday from Tuesday evening, back 11 days later. So I'll be doing all the normal working-Mummy things on my own, and taking Isaac to school, hoping I finish in time at court to pick him up, and trying to think of things I can feed him without making me throw up. Poor little sod's either going to have to learn to like cold food, or he's going to get thinner (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I had my appendix out at PAH one snowy New Year's Eve many years ago. Dad drove me there and read me 'White Boots' by Noel Streatfeild while we waited for me to go into surgery. I've had rather a soft spot for it ever sincePasturesNew wrote: »I've never been well presented in that way. It'd take a lot of money/effort to get to that stage just for interview - and once you've got the job you've then another 20 days' worth of outfits to find .... and all that hairdressing!
Right now I don't even own any makeup except an 8 year old eye liner pencil, a £1 dried up mascara and a 15 year old eye shadow.
I have two pairs of dark trousers from M&S which have been going for longer than is good to admit, and quite a few of hard wearing T shirts from Tescos and M&S. That's all I wear at work.
Don't tend to use make-up either. So going back to work needn't be hugely expensive - at least to start with.lostinrates wrote: »I have my glow In the dark knickers on now, and they are snugger than their first scary outing when they scared me ,(I dind't know they were low in the dark till they glowed in the dark) .
I just have to ask. Where on earth do you get such garments?! :rotfl:0 -

I picked these up at a supermarket before Halloween. I thought they just said 'boo' over the arris and would make DH laugh for a moment. They have skulls or bats or something on them. Cannot remember now.
Nippy out, glad its DH not me doing late check and dog's bedtime biscuits tonight!
Edite, I loved white boots too. Must see of any of the Joel streatfields have made it out alive. Yesterday and today I sorted through four boxes of books. It was a 'good sort' in that half of this lot are off to the charity shop immediately. We're eit, edit, editing. It hurts, so much.
For goodness sake....too much to correct.0 -
I remember lemonjelly referring to a first frost in his neck of the woods in the last week or so - they had one in mid-rural Kent in mid-October, so south got colder faster, this time....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Joy of joys.
While FPW was at ballet #1 Son said, "I think my friend (who is also 8 years old) watched a film that wasn't very suitable. A man put his willy in a lady's mouth and then in her front bottom". They're 8!!! I despair.0 -

It is strange how different the same chain store can be, possibly depending on the local manager.
I went into the Portslade (Brighton) branch of Aldi [by using my "Aldi" 99P 2014 road atlas of Britain] and thought I was on another planet. What had happened to the jumble sale chaos with half unloaded pallets and boxes in the walk ways.
It was heaving with Sunday shoppers but with the staff all in Aldi uniforms it felt like a 1970s Sainsburys.0 -

I don't blame you despairing. Yesterday at the train station a man and to boys, both prepubescent and I'd hazard a guess both primary school age, one maybe .....your sons age? A year or so either way? Anyway, this trio, walked out of the station and lit up. I usually keep my opinions to my self but I am afraid my jaw dropped. I just find it hard to comprehend in the western world , any one would tolerate two young kids smoking, and smoking alongside them like that.0 -
Like many other NPs I'm confused and angry about how our photos ended up on that webpage without our authorisation.
Was it a prank- did somebody bring a secret camera at the last meetup?
On here I learn something new every day
