50 next year and looking forward to it. 40s, all of it has been dreadful, I want a new decade. Besides, got a darn good 50th bash planned.

    Nearly our age then.

I have organised the bash. He is meant to be organising the weekend away.

He has done nothing, my arrangements are virtually complete.

He has more time than me, but still not even thought of a destination yet.

I did nothing for my 50th... or my 40th, or my 30th, or my 21st, or my 18th.

Last time I had a "party" I was 9-10 and a few neighbours' kids would have come round for squash, sandwiches, biscuits and a bit of cake.

My last birthday DH and I had food poisoning. Not fun.

Dog dog's fibbing is getting very tiresome now. I have to admit to having raised my voice to her this evening. Its just been a constant fib of 'there is someone at the door' or , 'some one in the yard'. My head cannot take the noise anymore. Anyway, now she is laying down by the heater looking daggers at me instead.

I used to be paid highly for work similar, but not as hard, as that.

When I was a Project Manager the work consisted of attending meetings where everybody said what they were doing. I'd get to ask questions where I could spot the project was wandering or their answers weren't telling everything.

Then I'd do the Minutes and distribute them.

As a PM my role was to ensure the project was delivered on time, to budget - and fitted the users' needs. The end users and IT had no idea what each other meant most of the time - so were using a common language to mean different things.

My biggest successes were where IT were delivering what they thought end users wanted - and end users thought they were getting what they asked for. I'd simply spot the errors of English and put them back on track.

So, no "real work" - and no shouting either!

£50k/year .... and that was 13 years ago.

And everybody loved me as they didn't ever have to deal one-to-one with the other side. I even got awards :)

Biggest payday was £56/hour for doing nothing - except sitting in a chair - and ordering pizza when I could see the job was 30 minutes from the end.

That reminds me of the Y2K weekend.

I am in the room where a problem might break out - I live in one room most of the time. But I'd rather not have to deal with it :)

Are you saying that, because you are in the room, you don't need a smoke alarm?

'The best and safest thing to do is request a Home Safety Check from us by calling 0800 038 2323.

We will visit you at home and fit or replace smoke alarms if appropriate, and give advice on cooking safety, electric blankets, chimneys, and much more.'

So, you get to meet a hunky fireman.

    Do they charge for this?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

  • Just found another house that went on in Dec 2011 at £199950, sold for £187,500 in April 2012 - and is now back on the market (with the same EAs) for £222,500.

Sounds to me like an executors sale, where my friend the developer has bought it and given it a quick makeover and its now back on the market.

    Double cocktails all round.

That'd "fit" .... but it seems 80% of the houses I might be interested in have all changed hands quickly and in the last year. Most odd/bizarre to come across so many, in such a small area. Somebody's been cashing in, greedy barstewards.

Something has definitely changed in me. I can eat stuff, I feel different....less inflamed somehow. Only problem is I reckon every single thing I have eaten this week now has been stored as fat. :(. Grrrrrrrrrrre.

    .

Just good to hear you can eat.

It isn't fat, it's softness. I am very soft.:)
