Stress over, James has had his uni place confirmed!

No idea of his final results yet as we pick them up at 9.30 but he has had confirmation that he is in at his first choice.

So proud of him, on the verge of (happy) tears here.

Congratulations. Brilliant for him and well done Sue on getting to this milestone.

I have the slight snag of 'Creative Block' at the moment and really bad dose of Procrastinitus'.
Usually clears after a weeks or 2 but this has been 5 weeks now
Any tips would be handy NP's :)
    Bobbing's good.

I see FreePeople are launching their UK website next weekend (bank holiday). They're doing a vintage VW Tour of Cornwall (which means 90% Newquay) and it sounds mostly rubbish.

For ideas.... go onto ebay and look for old Jackie magazines.... get some retro inspiration from the photos of the covers :) You'll be making purple Donny Osmond hats before you know it!

Just tomorrow. :). I have been going in more or less weekly this summer, but have just had over a fortnight off. Back to weekly for a few weeks, this is Spider-Man week, but I've managed to get some other stuff schedule for the same day to save more trips and also all the waiting doing nothing.
ah I remember now......the radio active stuff in your blood?

Read your updates just now.....how long do you have the weeklies for?

I've read that people get more creative if they distract themselves with something intellectually demanding.

In other words stop thinking about what you have to do and do something that distracts your conscious mind e.g. crosswords or other puzzles to solve. But it mustn't be relaxing. Emptying your mind sounds like it ought to work but it's not necessarily the best way.

Unravelling my mind is something that I am quite practised at now...usually a day or 2 spent sorting out stock, old patterns, fabrics, de-cluttering, chucking out, loading clearance onto Ebay, repetitive tasks requiring little concentration.

The procrastination is The Thing though....and I work so hard at combatting it I could honestly say I rarely do procrastinate ....the immense amount of self discipline I apply to myself is enormous on that front.......but it's the 'what next' bit that's bothering me.

I think LIR got in one...the new things can't come out but it's because they have no-where to go.

The old things are still selling well and my job is done.

My cat basket that fell apart was a brand new plastic one, Meggle is now back to travelling in the old Whicker basket plus added cable ties.

I read about your son house hunting and that you and OH were helping with deposit. :T Then I remembered that you recently said you were closing your purse following a need to help another family member. I am impressed by both your generosity and liquidity.

On your creative block..is there anything that works as a 'holiday for the head' for you? For me it is paintings at the Musee D'Orsay. At a push the pre raphaelite paintings at the Tate. Or Anthony Gormley. I do not have a creative bone in my body, but some great art works have helped me to empty my head of "stuff" and restore a balance.

Actually, as Zag said too....do something else for the brain is a good tip so we have booked a 2 day Photo shop course up in Covent Garden for week after next. DD and I will go to class together for 2 days. Can't wait as I when my procrastination is really bad I can photo shop pics of myself (as practise of course) and make myself look as good as Madonna :)

Verona? I think we have about 5 indies stockists in Italy but no idea where as not my department...I know we have one in Firenze.

The purse is closed for superfluous spending on ourselves :o.

The back extension starts in 10 days and that is already funded. it will construct it and fit a kitchen...the en-suite and 2 bedrooms and dining room will have their plastered shell and 2nd fix but nothing else so after that we have to save again.

What we have decided to help him with is our Margate roof and window money........mainly because he is going to have pay a further 10% this time next year for the same micro 1 bedder and that would be just be more debt.

He can't save much as he is paying rent and the stupid Govt 20% scheme in April is going to kick off prices further as there a whole load of youngsters in the same position as him just waiting to access the scheme.

The mortgage will be cheaper than the rent for the same type of place too.

I am going to read the Margate article now :)

I kind of ignore trends most of the time but we have another plan in the pipeline at the mo involving buying in niche styles and labels etc but selling via another site... very difficult to do but it is do-able as we have a good starting base to start from.

What I really, really want to do is move to Margate and open my up-cyling furniture/interiors/ soft furnishings and all things nice store :) It can't happen though...:(

    Fantastic news! Well done James!

Where is he going, and what is he reading?

Bucks and film and tv production.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Many, many years ago, when we were just starting out. The trick was to borrow from parents to afford a two bedder rather than a one bedder (having saved deposits by living at home for a couple of years and so not paying rent). They then earned enough rent from the lodger in bedroom 2 to repay the parent loan.
