Also, what is it with people coming to hospitals not prepared?
I am the only person who was prepped for the test as required, (and the only private patient here, I would have prepped the same if NHs, but maybe for some paying an excess might focus the mind? ). I have been subjected to a woman who keeps wanting details of why I am having more tests and leaving the department, and asking for details....from me and the staff.
And two people complained I finished the first test they were there for early...well, yes, not because I was private you dingbats, because I followed the ruddy prep instructions and so was able to start before them and ahead of my allotted time.
Oops, is my grump showing? I really do hate this hospital.0 -
DD got her results last week. She's just starting some A levels now but got 6 A's and 2 B's which seemed to give her some right to lots of rewards.
The 5 subjects she's taking were all A's and she is hoping to pick up one of the B's later. Lots of hard work ahead but she seems to understand that to get anywhere you need to work hard, which is more than I did at that age. :silenced:
Well done her! :T
I'm really pleased with mine. Component results for the module I taught: 8As, 1B and 2Cs.That's 7 as I predicted and 4 up a grade each.
(Selective school, before anybody thinks too highly of me. These are kids that ought to be getting results like that.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

What per engage of kids take sciences, or indeed, your science? Are recent campaigns impacting at that level?0 -
Oh, and on Spider-Man, I did raise the sex question, just to see what was said. Condoms aren't,t required, but on further probing questioning, it was eventually decided that in response to a question that no one had ever asked before it would be advisable to ' wash thoroughly' before a certain sex act. They took this better than the neurologist took my comparison of a certain sort of pain.
Its getting to be a sort of personal hobby....ask a medical practitioner a sex question. (Its not, I wouldn't do it to taunt them.....unless I were in a much better mood.)0 -

Not noticing much change, TBH. We've always had a decent uptake at this school, but it's quite noticeable that sciences are more popular among the ethnic minorities than the indigenous British population.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? As employers we find that a larger and larger proportion fo university students doing the courses we traditionally recruit from are either EU citizens (not a problem or non-EU citizens. the later are a problem, not in terms of sponsoring work permits but because most govt deparemtns require security clearance which seems to be near on impossible or at least takes an impossibly long time for non-eu citizensSadly UK students seem to choose less rigourous subjects.

Mushrooms are like Marmite: people tend to love or loathe them. And given that half the population would blanch at the prospect of tucking into a plateful of porcini, it seems unlikely that a diet requiring you to eat piles of fungi daily should be a success.
And yet the M Plan - a weight-loss programme based on mushrooms - is the latest celebrity diet. Kelly Osbourne claims to have lost several dress sizes on it and pop star Katy Perry credits her slender figure to mushrooms.
It's said that you will shave inches from your hips, thighs and waist - but without shrinking your bust.
Now I can't remember which of you lovely lady NP's said who liked mushrooms and who didn't?
I'll be coming around with my tape measure soon, just to check up!:D0 -
I like mushrooms, and read that earlier. There was also an article about a woman who ' looks thirty ' but is fifty five or something. I'd be happy to look fifty five this afternoon0

Off into school to get my set's AS-level results. Best wishes to Sue's James for his results. Have any of the other NP got kids getting results today? Or GCSEs next Thursday?
James got better than expected results, so smiles all round. Middle son gets his GCSE results next week.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
