Stress over, James has had his uni place confirmed!

No idea of his final results yet as we pick them up at 9.30 but he has had confirmation that he is in at his first choice.

So proud of him, on the verge of (happy) tears here.

Oh, what good news! Fantastic, and I am so pleased for you and your family. :T:T:T
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It went ok...youngest refused to come out of the dining room to see her and she didn't push it as that was one of the reasons she has been called in, his withdrawing from society.

She is talking about organising a CAF, where we can hopefully get everyone together and work out a way forward where youngest can move forward, get help for his anxiousness and stress and then hopefully, reach his potential.

Mind you, his 'everyone' consists of school, inclusive resource, us and her...no other begger is 'involved' with him at the moment as we are waiting on the referral process to CAMHS.

One of the downfalls of this that I can see, is that people will put in the work, put things in place but then youngest being youngest, will just completely refuse to engage with anything and refuse any help being offered, as he has been doing at school. We need to get him in the right place to accept the help and that is going to be the biggest hurdle.

Hoping for the best for you all for this. I know it's different because my DS's withdrawal was caused by a one-off incident, but I do know a little about having a son who wants to withdraw from people and refuses to accept any help, so I can sympathise with how intractable the situation can become. (Mine is now actually not withdrawing from people, because he realised if he started "joining in with stuff" then the psychiatrist from CAHMS would discharge him, and he decided that getting out of the counselling was more important to him than remaining isolated at school. He also made a huge effort of will and conquered his OCD-tendencies about shutting doors twice when I told him they indicated he needed more help and would need to go back to CAHMS. His underlying issues remain unresolved. :()

Hope he has a great 3 or 4 years (or however long the course is).

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

... a Barbican-style tower block instead of Covent Garden.
I've no idea what either of those look like :)

In Tuapse for diesel (we're on the way to Yalta, and want to get there before afternoon 'rush hour')

That is a car I wouldn't want to drive this far!

The wing mirror arrangement looks a bit strange to me.

Any experience with the new Touarag ? I'm being drawn to go for a test drive which can be fatal :o The Santa Fe isn't even 2 yet and is great, so I shouldn't.. but!

The match was a great advert for the game and both Scotland and England lost a lot by letting this derby lapse.

Off into school to get my set's AS-level results. Best wishes to Sue's James for his results. Have any of the other NP got kids getting results today? Or GCSEs next Thursday?

DD got her results last week. She's just starting some A levels now but got 6 A's and 2 B's which seemed to give her some right to lots of rewards.
The 5 subjects she's taking were all A's and she is hoping to pick up one of the B's later. Lots of hard work ahead but she seems to understand that to get anywhere you need to work hard, which is more than I did at that age. :silenced:

LIR - hope the spidey thing goes well today. Let us know what superpower you develop :)

They have a log in to Internet here, unlike over at the other bit.

So far, not so good. Spidey senses are fine.....no problem, only....

The other tests I've flunked them all. Nothing major, no brain absense tests or anything :D. One so badly they wouldn't let me continue, even though I said I felt fine. Don't think it will mean anything terribly serious though, just, one on particular is a bit of a a shock as as far as I was concerned it was a box ticking exercise.

Now I'm very mildly spiderman and meant to be keeping away from small babies,....yet when I asked for some suggestion for some where quiet to sit for a while they put me in the waiting room with people with tiny babies being released from neonatal care .....d'uh. Obviously, I've moved.....
