All due to Vodafone repeatedly screwing up DH billing. After having to call them every month for five months because they had overcharged, they actually had the cheek to say he would be sorry for moving to Tesco as the service isn't as good and they will badger US with cold calls (total rubbish).I went talktalk mobile, 3.75 a month on a 12 month contract and 50 topcashback back
- 300 minutes unlimited texts 1 gb data.
We need unlimited calls, which is a limiting factor in getting a deal, also have unlimited texts and 1 GB data.
They were on £36pm with the iphones (one has 4 the other 4s) 2 yr contracts. 1 contract is due for upgrade, but we don't want to upgrade just yet, so I needed a SIM only tariff with no a rolling contract - got that for £21 a month and a bit of sweet talking got the other one down to £21 pm on the same deal, even though it is not yet out of contract.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Ethical debate over New genome project:
http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/nov/07/personal-genome-project-uk-launch
I think Iceland have done a deal for their national genome for medical genetic studies. National medical system and no military. Homogenous population with little to no migration.
I used to be puzzled why so many medical studies involved the Swedes, and assumed it was due to their centralised bureaucracy till I remembered that they're miltarily neutral and so only die of natural causes.;)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I think that there is a gap in the TV marketplace for something along the lines of Tomorrow's World that discusses these issues. They are genuinely scientifically interesting and some of them will change lives, yet there is little mention of them on mainstream news and programmes like Click and The Gadget Show focus on consumer tech only. Apologies for overly long sentence,it is late and I'm too tired to word differently. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Good news! Urine-powered robots are a step nearer!
Science's ultimate dream (after the technological neck tattoo).
They're taking the p!ss!
Surely the most obvious use for them is to clean public toilets like a Roomba only powered from the urinals. The ones from farms could clean cowsheds/stables etc. They could also work as potmen in pubs as they'd be well powered in that environment.
Engineers: great ideas but no nouse.
I've been suffering with stress recently so have been trying a little visualization technique that has worked wonders which might help some of you.
Imagine yourself by a stream on a beautiful mountainside. It is silent except for the water and birds chirrupping in the distance.
The mottled sunlight coming through the leaves of the the trees feels gently warm on your back and the slightest breeze plays with your hair.
You look down at the stream and the water is as crystal: you can clearly see his face staring up at you as you hold him below the surface while his struggles grow weaker.0 -

Have you tried the PBR podcasts? It sounds like the sort of thing they'd cover well.
Material World on the BBC is pretty good but is more science than technology based.0 -
Mind you I just scored 95% on the North-o-meter on another thread which considering my origins isn't that weird (or is it?).
As this is a somewhat southerly thread (on average) I wonder how the other NPs would do?;)
Yes, it's on Facebook, too.
I am 25% northern. Because I had chips and gravy earlier in the weekEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

22% Northern - around London.
Sounds pretty accurate!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I'm sorry you had such a !!!!!! start to your night and that your home's not how it started.
Hope you enjoy that pizza and beers.
Pizza was good, had two beers, and promptly fell asleep on the couch while watching a documentary. Woke up an hour ago still on the couch. Not exactly the Rock n Roll lifestyle I had imagined I'd be living when I was a teenager....
On a positive note, Sunday morning is feeling rather productive today for once.
On a not so positive note, my neck is killing me from sleeping funny on the couch.:(
I don't remember couches being so uncomfortable from my Uni days....
So while it's possible this is just another sign of ageing, in the spirit of this board I'll choose to believe it's all a big conspiracy and that the Lizard people or Boomer Elites have dictated couches today must be uncomfortable to sleep on in an effort to further punish the young.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Its a bit more proactive than recent weekends here too. The sun makes a difference. We've got some pots planted, and are off to get the last of the summer fencing down then plan either some chain sawing or strimming front verge for winter.
Be nice if it dried up a bit more to strim really.0 -

I sleep on the couch every night .... comfort levels are the same. So none of your conspiracy nonsense here.
You were p155ed so slept at a funny angle, with a lot more body weight than when in your teens :P0
