Autumn grey is so beautifully muted, the bits of colour left just glowing.
Otoh, would love to come back in the house dry in th e mornings.
Kiwi and dog dog are determined to make beautiful babies. Keeping them apart is a full time job. Kiwi has learned to go under any barricade between him and the back stairs, then round and if anyone has left a door open much joy ensues. Thankfully, dog dog is noisy in her enthusiasm at his arrival and so they can be stopped before anything starts. I grew up with both sexes of entire dogs and remembered how awful these times were but hadn't expected not to be able to have the girls' spayed by now. I certainly never expected this from dog dog. I have never experienced a split season before, and its hard on her, out of isolation then back in it. I am reminded, wryly, that I cannot understand why any one keeping a purely pet dog would not neuter. (I've been trying to neuter big dog but she keeps getting ill on the day she is boed in for and after dog dog broke both legs I decided the only ethical
Decision was to neuter her, but she needed a year off surgery IMO).0 -

We are just over a mile from the station. DW does it more often than me, as I work from home, but she reckons that that is just right to get her brain in gear in the morning. Mind you, she does tend to take the bus home in the evenings.
How do house prices vary with distance from the station? Would it be worth living further away and getting a bike that you can leave at the station? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

On coloureds dividing for washing,
When I was tying yesterday I was wondering what else I throug in with reds and pinks. The answer is nothing.
I've just found pink stuff made more than wash on its own. I am not even a pink fan. I have a pink towel I use half the week when DH is away as it is a lone towel (from uni days). The matching small towel and face cloth are long missing. And some time earlier this year, maybe summer, my mother bought be a pink dressing gown. I'm not a fan of dressing gowns in general, but this thing is so warm and soft I have to admit its won me over.
Also, whilst I detest pink horse and dog clothes they are usually the cheapest and the ones left in sales. So I have a few of them, including a huge pink fleece.. I dislike it, but its warm, practical and washes and dries quickly. So its very practical for the morning especially.
Pink knickers are charming though, and the right shades of pink are more useful than many other colours because they are near to nude and so fewer visibility issues.0 -

Difference is civility, small bit of space, not sure its worth it. Grumble grumble.
I think I'll save the seven.
It will probably be a quiet train anyway. It you have stick and its busy they stick you in first if there is room any often:oPasturesNew wrote: »So can a week's shopping! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I wondered how long it'd take you...:D
Lj, that's my point......seven is the saving I'd make if I don't sit first class. The bonus of first class is a free black coffee ( I won't be able to eat the free food...though I suppose I could claim my little paper bag of nosh and give it to someone in need on the street.
The other bonus is the extra space, news paper and civility. A normal train seat is big enough, and if there is no space in second and there is space in first a conductor will usually upgrade me if I have my walking stick.:o. I also don't really mind sitting in the corridor. I have stood the whole journey in the past but don't think I'd be advised to do so ATM.
Otoh, I am sort of thinking that I might try and go flat out so the guy sees me 'bad' IYSWIM. Instead of resting to get to the appointment more easily. Last week I was flopping a lot, nothing today or yesterday:D. Obviously, I'd rather stay on my feet normally! I just think it would be useful if the guy saw it...don't know if that can happen.0 -
A few towels go in with red loads to bulk them out. Some of the towels are purple mind.
On the washing basket debate, when I needed a new one (old one had broken) I spent a long time trying to find one that could be carried comfortably. Obviously frequently only essentials get ironed, so the ironing basket is usually full.:o Too many baskets I looked at had thin plastic that would cut into fingers & make carrying very uncomfortable. Took a while to find the right basket. (NB dirty laundry has 2 bag style baskets for accumulation).
I'm with most other NP on the Arkwright style "HOW MUCH?!?!" regarding the asking price etc of chewy's house to be (that isn't to be). It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I read it that way first but then reread it as the extra 7 quid for first class for a free coffee was a lot more than the price of buying a coffe and travelling second class.I think....0 -
Our current laundry basket was free. I sent DH of to work one Monday. Looking smart, handsome, well dressed. He came home looking like an ewok. He'd bought some goddamn awful coat in a charity shop and found a huge wicker laudry basket with a lid on the street. Have sniffed it:o. He took it home sprayed it with anti bac stuff then put his stuff to bring home that week in it. I almost died laughing and dog dog put her head down behind me in shame at collecting this strange looking person from the station.
The coat went to another charity shop pronto. Awful thing.0 -

I have a washing basket from dunelm mill (so no posh alert), bamboo with lid. Inside is a canvas bag that fits around the basket with ties. Unstrap the ties and the bag can be removed and used to carry the laundry downstairs.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
