Income this tax year has averaged at £285/month, so £200/month would be a significant increase, but if my income improves I might end up with having to repay it, along with the associated hassle.
This tax year you would probably need to start pulling in a couple of thousand a month from now until 6th April to have to repay anything. Is that going to happen?
When people mentioned Countil Tax help, I think they meant with those big bills you're looking at when you buy your new place next year

Yes, that is what I meant.0 -

Had a disagreement with a box of cake tins. Dog dog (who annoying ly is in segregation again, turns out last season was easier because it was a sit season...grrr) rushed on to the kitchen and assuming the attic box was attacking me bit it. Then realised it was inanimate and started pulling it off me. She's such a treasure.
In case I haven't mentioned it before (;) ) lemonjelly LOVES cheesecake!!!!:drool::drool:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
So happy for you.

Happy they gave you such a comprehensive scan, too. That should really set your mind at rest, particularly since you're just about at the "stop worrying quite so much" magic number of 13 weeks.
I'm very happy too, and the quality of the scan was amazing - there's an awful lot to be said for going to a major teaching hospital, and ending up as part of an "enhanced scan research programme". It's really clear, and the measurements she did were amazing - not only the folds on the back of the neck for genetic conditions risk, but the size of the kidneys, different bits of the heart and brain, all the rest of it. The baby is now 5.9cm long, and really looks like a baby, albeit with a very large head. In the scan photo, it looks as if it is smiling and waving, too!
We had a lovely weekend - picked medlars, quinces, sloes, rosehips, crabapples and the last few proper apples, although I had strict instructions to leave full baskets under trees to be collected later by Bruv or Dad. And we went to a great bonfire night, with a huge bonfire - my inner arsonist loves a good fire.
I reckon fire worship is an entirely logical and sensible thing!
Came home to find that OH spent most of the weekend cleaning and tidying - every floor and surface in the flat is sparkling like an advert....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
When I recruit I look for the person that can:
1. Make the most money for the company
2. Not take my job
3. Be fun to work with
In that order.
What is mindfullness?
Where's your exit strategy?

Not what life is about but what employment choice is about in a profit making role, yes.0 -

I agree, fire worship is sensible. I cannot imagine how it is for people who love an entirely life in the inner city never seeing real fires in fireplaces etc. (or ever being alone, being in near silence or any number of experiences). fire is such an intrinsic part of human experience to me.
I would like to experience something new soon.
I think that would be wonderful. 0 -
lostinrates wrote: »Re sport and hobbies.
I have been reading about this subject recently, trying to look for clues.
and it seems very obvious that while I have always had lots of recreation type activities in the past sporting /activity things aren't actually that beneficial for some personality types as STRESS RELIEF. (As opposed to other ways, like mood enhancing in other ways plus physical benefits.)
If you are driven, perfectionist or competitive, the urge to self compete can be strong, and thus the switch off is actually voided and the stress of the activity reinforcing that undercurrent in your life, even if you enjoy it as RECREATION, its not relaxation, (or stress relieving)
So a runner might try and improve his run time, or endurance as part of his running, and its recreation, and he might feel better, but that doesn't make it stress busting, or relaxing. Insert cycling, for example, or even things like some health and Beauty things....its a facial for relaxation mainly or for the skin benefit.....cooking.....i realise I enjoy recreationally but less so relaxingly at times, I think things to be better, to tweak, to taste, to judge myself to make notes for next time, and to enjoy...and I get tense when anyone other than the Boss is in the cook space of the cheese room with me.
Having thought about this it makes a lot of sense to me and as I was reading some of the stuff (I am not sure where I've been reading it all tbh, But i think the mind website might have a short page on it) I can see how a lot of that sort of attitude which was of tremendous benefit to me in some areas of my life holds me back in others.
I'm not sure how that helps gen, apart from to say a stress buster is different from recreation for some of us. If I work out how (apart from hot scented baths and books) I'll yell.
That's one of the things I love about bowls.
Playing with the team, you're in a match, & yes, there is competition. Believe me there's competition (people are always surprised to hear about the fights!).
At the same time, having a roll up on your own, especially when the weather is gorgeous, is fantastic. & you can (if so inclined) have a drink whilst playing.
Personally, I tend to have ice cream in the summer whilst playing!:o
I recall working in 1 place where the stress was really getting to me. I'd leave daily at 4pm, head for the bowling green, & whilst the rush hour was going on around me, I'd play a gentle game on my own.
Kept me sane...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
DS2 has a ridiculous amount of underwear. He confessed it was less hassle to buy another packet of boxers from Primark than to put a wash on!
I am behind with reading atm but that did make me laugh. I am imagining in about 20 years hearing of a house in Herts exploding under the built up pressure of all the boxer shorts inside. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? It's not Generali's list for his life, or the rules by which the newly employed person has to live theirs, only during office hours. Make lots of money, don't steal the bosses job, have fun. It doesn't sound that bad!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
