Compartmentalise. Identify what the stressful areas are and restrict the time you spend thinking about them. Do some sport/ running around/ pick up a hobby you have laid aside.

    Re sport and hobbies.

I have been reading about this subject recently, trying to look for clues. :o and it seems very obvious that while I have always had lots of recreation type activities in the past sporting /activity things aren't actually that beneficial for some personality types as STRESS RELIEF. (As opposed to other ways, like mood enhancing in other ways plus physical benefits.)

If you are driven, perfectionist or competitive, the urge to self compete can be strong, and thus the switch off is actually voided and the stress of the activity reinforcing that undercurrent in your life, even if you enjoy it as RECREATION, its not relaxation, (or stress relieving)

So a runner might try and improve his run time, or endurance as part of his running, and its recreation, and he might feel better, but that doesn't make it stress busting, or relaxing. Insert cycling, for example, or even things like some health and Beauty things....its a facial for relaxation mainly or for the skin benefit.....cooking.....i realise I enjoy recreationally but less so relaxingly at times, I think things to be better, to tweak, to taste, to judge myself to make notes for next time, and to enjoy...and I get tense when anyone other than the Boss is in the cook space of the cheese room with me.

Having thought about this it makes a lot of sense to me and as I was reading some of the stuff (I am not sure where I've been reading it all tbh, But i think the mind website might have a short page on it) I can see how a lot of that sort of attitude which was of tremendous benefit to me in some areas of my life holds me back in others.

I'm not sure how that helps gen, apart from to say a stress buster is different from recreation for some of us. If I work out how (apart from hot scented baths and books) I'll yell. :)

And, finally to end my post roll,

I have been looking frustratingly for some underwear I like suitable for curvy women. I'm having no luck at all ATM. So much so I even checked our county adult ed to see if they ran any lingerie making courses (I know they did some ten years ago because a friends mother who lives not far away did them) but they don't seem to any more.

Having not sewn properly for years the idea of working with tricky slippery and stretchy stuff is appealing, but I know want I want and I cannot find it, (I found a bra and set in the most beautiful stuff ever but too small.:( )

I've been thinking a lot since chatting with other nice people over supper about my clothes frustrations. I have lots of ideas about what I want to wear, and maybe the answer is to stop moaning and try making.

I'm a bit worried about dexterity. I was never the most committed person any way. (My tacking looked like a four year olds and I ate the process of pinning then tacking the sewing,...so boring) but I love fabric.

If I steered clear of anything tailored maybe its part of the answer. But still not sure about underwear.

May be you could make your own range, I think one of the NP might know how to get from ideas to marketed product in that area :)

DKs are already too full of energy with no school to wear them out, fueling this with their Trick or treat stash is not helping :(

I should be trying to organise the garage so the car can fit it, you can probably guess how appealing the idea is :(
    I think....

I think it would be a squeeze to get our Aygo in our garage. And the garage is quite empty at the moment.

I think machine sewing is harder than it looks.

I have an inherited Singer sewing machine from the 1950s that I don't know what to do with. They don't seem to sell for much on Ebay because they are too heavy to post. I kept it as a family heirloom, but I now feel ready to get rid.

On the underwear question, try M&S!

You pay £700 each - that'd make me happy too!
If I had bought your house though I'd be paying £1050 (each) - making me not so happy.

I think that you have proved beyond any possibility of doubt that any house that is nice enough for you to want to live in will come with a fairly hefty Council Tax bill. So, that leads inescapably to one of two conclusions:
    a) You must live in a house that is not nice enough for you to want to live in, or
    b) You must pay a fairly hefty Council Tax bill.

That's a decision you'll need to make, but whichever choice you make, that's a positive outcome.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

That's EXACTLY what puts me off. :rotfl:

Generally I've fallen out of touch with people for a reason. I have had a couple of friends track me down through DH ...

    I think...take the hint people.:o

Then I have to tell them I'm married now, not available to meet in London, no I'm not in touch with x w or z so cannot reconnect or connect youyouand I cannot get you an in anywhere. Still interested in catching up? No, didn't think so.....':D

I used to get msn messages too, but ignored them and eventually they stopped coming, :o.

I love email, but I find the traditional social media sort of invasive ness a bit ...rude. People wanting to know where you are, what you are doing etc. for me the joy of the Internet is its here when its wanted but not when its not.

I also get annoyed with companies that operate solely through facebook now (um, like i might:o) But DH opened his facebook on macputer so I get on it that way if I need to see something (with his permission of course).

I find this whole idea of people living their lives on Facebook really odd. (This thread is quite different, of course?) However, what really gets me is when couples split up, and the first one of them hears about it is when their partner's status changes to single. It's more important to let a bunch of acquaintances know you're single than your partner!!!???

M and s do some pretty and sensible underwear. (What's holding them up as i type now in fact) but they don't make one of the specific items I am looking for in a suitable format.

That sounds very dodgy, but it is not meant to me. I have written to one company who do make this thing, but tbh I don't like the look of their fabrics much.

Everything is a compromise. I like it when things aren't a compromise. I have been oohing and ahhing over dolci follie stuff though. Very beautiful things.

What I liked first of all about here was I did not know any of you and I could relax without preconception or expectation.

Now what I like is that I am still relaxed and know and care about you.

I find it rather fascinating to see just how far people put so much importance and time to the likes of Facebook that they cannot live without it and are frustrated to learn that WiFi is not available to them when away from home.

One day someone will invent a way of implanting a computer chip into their bodies to control their lives.:(
