Did you manage to sort out your phone problem you had a while back?

Yep - found a recovery image which I flashed then flashed Jelly Bean, rooted and used titanium backup to restore all contacts etc but I did lose texts received in the period between first getting the phone working at all and restoring the backups. I never know how much odds upgraded versions of Android really make given the hassle (I know it is supposed to be seamless but I was unable to use the Soony upgrade service as I had rooted my phone when I first got it inorder to use backup restore to transfer everything from my old phone (I am about to contradict myself below) but I don't trust everything to google.

Any suggestions for a good webmail account for a parent? I got my dad set up with a mac for ease of use and another family member set him up with a webmail account. It's hotmail- yes I know but I can't be everywhere.

Last time he tried to get in it seems to be rebranded as outlook and wasn't letting him log in without entering codes sent to a mobile number. Waaay too much hassle to keep going.

Wondering if there's an easy way to transfer him to a less problematic account like iCloud/GMX /gmail, that he can just log into using a browser and see his mail/send new ones. Ease of use and ease of transfer's the key issue.

Anybody on here managed to do that/ got any suggestions?

I have also been in the cloud forever on email and it would terrify me to only have local PC based copies of anything both due to hard drive failure risk and also just inconvenience. However it does not keep you 100% safe from name changes, my altavista.net email became cheerful.com (offered by mail.com) when altavista repositioned themselves away from being a consumer facing organisation. In general I am more than happy with both mail.com and gmail but can't say I know how to migrate from outlook/hotmail to either of them. It might be worth doing 1 month paid if that gives you the tools to migrate and then downgrading to the free services?
    I think....

Gmail.... Easy to set up with Mail on the mac or iphones/ipads.

    No freezer compartment.

I'd not buy those, could make them easily enough.... although just cheesy mash is the same thing.

No, absolutely not the same... Cheesy mash I'm allergic to, these I can eat! I'd love to be able to eat cheesy mash though *swoons*

Cleary over done things for three days. Have spent a lot of today asleep in different corners of the house and garden.

Sounds like both you and Missk need to take things a bit easier...

Hmmmm... cheesy mash. And its also tasty sibling: cheesy chips :)

I'm not a huge fan of baked beans, but they are definitely improved with cheese (I seem to be following a theme here).
