He doesn't know yet, though, we're waiting to get beyond 12 week scan before we tell him.

One of my colleagues is pregnant - her young son guessed before 12 weeks! (kept looking at the bump, then started talking to it)
I agree, cooking just for yourself is pretty dull, and not really worth much bother.

I usually cook 2-3 meals at the same time. Otherwise I wouldn't cook. The past couple of months have been exceptions - writing and house buying and travelling (work and festival) and moving. Cooked last night for the first time in what feels like ages. Only did a stir fry, but boy does it taste good :)
    15th May.
    My mum's birthday :)

I've always wanted to see the northern lights.

So do I. I even bought some skiwear last year as I was planning on going to Iceland (country, not the supermarket ;)) as a getting-a-job present to myself. I chickened out of going abroad to a non-English speaking country on my own though (and figured it would be much nicer to share the experience). And the single supplements were quite substantial. :(

Well we are now in our new offices at work; it's going to take some adjustment to the new noise and movement. The floor bounces when people 20' away walk on it; my monitor is on one of those new-fangled adjustable brackets, but it won't stay still / level etc; my phone had a sticky handset and the LED display was broken; my desk has damage to it; my chair has a chocolate mark where you sit ... ; my locker's main key has been lost so it has to remain insecure; we have 4 small fridges between 130 of us. We feel well ripped-off but that's the public sector for you.

I just hated it, sat there shivering with my coat on all day as part of the office had a window open and the draught blew straight over to me. There's so much movement and noise from all directions that I ended up hyper-stimulated and nearly having panic attacks.

    Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

On the plus side, I discovered a pack of Maryland choc chip cookies in the box above my fridge at home. They'll go soft if I leave any, won't they ... ?!

Michael, you know that book I recently posted a pic of, that's on the chest of drawers next to my bed? It's got a whole lot of stuff in there about how humans are massively over optimistic when estimating how much things will cost or how long they will take.

The shadow plan is basically a plan view the neighbours on it and the shadowing on the March Equinox through the day shaded on. The planning officer also mentioned the solstices although this is non-standard. I think just marking the midday shadows at the three dates would be sufficient.
Also up for scrutiny have been my spare knickers (Bridget jones pants have been laughed at and unpacked.....so no one snigger at my tight clothes please tomorrow night!) ...well, they might want to prod at me having seen me. And a discussion over whether in autumn I really need a separate pair of day and night sunglasses.

If you want we could kill a little time till the others get there with a knickers inspection to justify your bringing multiple pairs?

I hope tomorrow is better. We have the funny monitor arms, they don't work even with no vibration. Do cookie packets have any interim states, i thought they were fairly quantum.
    I think....

    how sensible to gauge impact.

Hmm....I'll also have my folding walking stick, I can show you how effective a truncheon it makes :A.

Yorkie, it all sounds very stressful. I can see why the last inhabitant of the chair ate chocolate. Just do NOT read the thread on the marriages board about odd work emails. It won't help.

No argument on the single supplement problem. Or the travelling alone not being able to speak the language scariness. Definitely much more sensible to find somebody else who wants to see them and go together. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Since the NPT is a safe place to ask random questions...

If you were in my position, what would you wear to LNE's inquest???

    Day 1:

    1. Something comfortable

    2. Smartish - black trousers with a smartish top

    Day 2:

see what everyone else is wearing, possibly slightly less smart. Tidy jeans?

Along the lines of what everyone else has said, I think I would go for the smartest or smartest comfortable clothes I had, and see what everyone else was wearing. (apologies if speaking out of turn) You are there representing your children's interests, not to be judged. I am sure you will look well presented whatever you choose.
Hope it goes as well as can be hoped for x
