Love it

Bowie is the only artist I have connected to from the age of 9 to now.lemonjelly wrote: »I like Beck (Odelay is a masterpiece), but have never been a Bowie fan.
Dunno how to put it. He was there when pop grew up and moved on from the Beatles and their like. Much of his later (and very early )work doesn't move me but his earlier stuff's electric.
I'd recommend Sound and Vision, Heroes, All the Madmen and Life on Mars?. And tons of his earlier stuff. And the early Roxy Music albums (their electronics guy, Brian Eno helped Bowie with his best albums and launched bands like Talking Heads and the whole genre of what we'd call ambient music). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Love Bowie.
Some one we know, but not well, told us he was at a very smart garden party where know one was paying attention to the background music who were a very quietly sophisticated group with a sax player. Because no one looked, no one noticed who the saxophonist was.
No idea if its a true story, don't know they teller well enough to say, but I like the idea of David Bowie doing a local gig for a neighbour for the fun of it quietly and no one noticing.
. I know other well known musos who er away with it, very sadly never met nor had opportunity to meet Bowie. 0 -

He formed a band called Tin Machine in which he kind of played anonymously for a while.
Phil Collins did something similar with Brand X.
Bowie, Brian Eno, Lou Reed and others who spent time in Berlin did loads to move music forwards and make it more electronic. The backing vocals on Sound and Vision were by Mary Hopkins IIRC!There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I can say this because it has no bearing on the present. A relative of mine played in a band with Jimmy Page before he was famous. The room in which they practiced together ended up being my brother's bedroom. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There used to be special booths in American record stores back in the 80s that made digital standard mixtapes. I made one called "Now That's What I Call Unrelated Music" (those records didn't exist over there at that time).
Have the NPs got a desert island disc of songs we should all hear before we shuffle off this mortal coil? That's about 8 - 10 songs? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Pn, they were probably familiar with women like her too.

They are called track spares at speedway.....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
