Another potential nightmare is that there are 5 executors!
We had 3. First conversation with the solicitor made us change that to one main one/contact etc (me), with one letter going out each time, instead of 3.

  • In the past you didn't actually need a degree to do articles......and now they don't exist.

Its not true that its an old boys net work to get them always at all, DH was interviewed but a lot of people who had been tutored by his father and it really stood against him (revenge!) and some people who hating his bleeding heart left wing parents,

Matches my experience. I only ever got serious grief from people who don't like my Dad, not help from those who do! I didn't ever tell people in or before interviews that I was his daughter, and we have a common enough surname that it's not obvious, but the Bar's not a large world, so I always came across someone, or my pupil master did, who said, "Araminta Georgiana? Ah! Sebastian Tristran Chulmington-Smythe's* daughter!"

I am puzzled why 18 and 25 are both mentioned, but that is a side issue.

That's interesting. Who drew up the will?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Will the rats ever be fully sorted ? Do you have black boxes down? Or are you too kind for that?

They will be. I'm certainly not remotely kind when it comes to disease-spreading rodents who keep me out of my own garden, but it's more complicated than that, sadly.

Tied up with the restaurant next door, which uses the alleyway between their building and ours as a place to store both rubbish in bags (which rats can get at easily) and uncooked food. So with that sort of food source, there's no point trying to kill them until the restaurant sorts itself out, or Islington makes it.

  • Re Harry potter .

I have to admit I'm nt a huge fan and I love fantasy of that nature. But it got kids reading and imagining. Its better than the battalions of vampires and fae ( and I like some of the vampires) for tween and teen readers.

Did you ever read a series called The Dark is Rising, by Susan somebody?

I read them all as a child, and they were brilliant.

I'm sorry. I'll go and have another shower. And thanks for letting us know. If friends can't tell you, who can?

Silver, thinking about the wording of the will, I think it's confusing because I don't think it does what it says it does. That's why I asked who drew it up.

I think what you have is a bare trust. Even if the children are not supposed to have the capital until age 25, as sole beneficiary and over age 18 they can require the trust to be broken.

I would be very inclined to hand it over to them and tell them to stick it in a stocks and shares ISA until they want to buy a house. Point out that they can't spend it twice.

Alternatively, invest it on their behalf and don't tell them about it.
