    Teeheeheee.

From my Internet jewellery windows shopping (what does one call'windows' shopping when one is a mac user? ) I sent DH some possible choices I'd quite like.....and to day a jewellery sized box arrived and with joy and greed I ripped it open....

And found a new clarisonic head......

A lesson in expectation, and gratitude.....I am looking forward to washing my face tonight however cold the bathroom!
  • I'm not. No discredit to NDG, mind you. Who is impressive in many ways, and knows I am awed by her. But There are many successful dyslexics. Also, skills such as memory that dyslexics often developed as a "survival' tool are really useful, and also, verbal skills, which often 'compensate' are obviously well suited to the most 'seen' part of the job. It IS important though, that young dyslexics know that they have role models in these sort of jobs, and the sort of commitment that is needed. One of the thing that always worries me is the extra time in exams issue, because in reality, one cannot squeeze more hours into the day. Many perfectly wonderfully intelligent dyslexics function in pretty awesome jobs though.

There are compensations. My memory is pretty good, because I (not deliberately) tried to remember things instead of writing them down. I remember all sorts of useless stuff like all my debit card and passport and driving licence numbers. I don't always remember where I've put my keys, though.

My school reports from the age of 4 always said I was better orally, and "lazy" about writing things. Which was a bit dispiriting.

We're going along quite nicely with James' stuff for uni, only a few bits and bobs to go now and they are not quite essential, so can be done without initially.

Still need to get food (to get him over the first few days) and cleaning materials but I am not in such a panic as I was...it's now doable.

I did ask his father if he fancied making a contribution towards the equipment but he declined to answer my message or answer my calls....grr, it meant I had to short shop for the last fortnight (boys still had food, I stuck to cereal or went without!), eek out the fuel in the car and move some bills about but we've managed.

Middle son now has his courses sorted after an initial mess up (they dropped his double business to a single and then insisted he found another subject to study as he is in the more able group and has to do 4)...and it is the same courses he thought he was doing in the first place! Apparently, someone had lost the ability to read the schedule correctly and where they thought there was a clash, there wasn't....

Youngest is a bit up and down, extremely grumpy goo guts yesterday morning but only slightly goo guts this morning and I had to have a meeting with the head of P.E yesterday to sort some things out (he has an issue changing clothes and shoes and there has been an arrangement for the last 3 years which they were trying to get rid of). Again, thankfully now sorted.

Unfortunately, I think the stress has got to me...having a major eczema flare at the moment.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • When does his term start, Sue?

    Hope you feel better soon.

    GBD, just for you:

I didn't think students used cleaning materials, other than copious amounts of deodorants.

If he is in halls, they are usually cleaned weekly, if in a shared house they can share stuff.

When I was in halls cleaning products other than washing up liquid were actually confiscated as dangerous.

But our rooms were cleaned twice weekly.

NDG - We take him down on the 22nd.

For cleaning stuff, it was more washing liquid, clothes washing liquid/powder, dish washing cloths, that sort of thing rather than heavy duty bleach.

How can cleaning products be described as dangerous, if used properly?

In that case, just about everything in my house would be considered dangerous

Last day at work this week, as OH is going to open up in the morning (I've just got in), and hoping to dart at about 2, as our fleet manager is in until 10pm. I could get used to working 50h a week, it's lovely!

Interviewing a Norwegian national this morning, who happens to be a Lebanese politicians daughter. Better be on my best behaviour!

Discussing the JESC stage design on Monday/Tuesday next week (so I'll be in Geneva, but taking the train this time). Tell me what you think to below.

I had a blast of affection for my kitchen this morning. I usually keep the alter clear apart from a few glass jars, but I have a big vase of delphiniums there as of yesterday and while it is undeniably clutter adding to my alter, it is a refreshing change of vantage.

Anyway, just loving my kitchen today. Having felt like kicking the Wrecktoration in recent weeks, its nice to feel fondness.

Course, I snapped the least flattering angle, just to remember how great Delphs look in the colour of the room.

    Can tanks not be buried?

Saddam Hussein tried that, but the 'mericans still shot them up.

    HTH! ;)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
