If any NP ,like men in uniform I have some to spare tonight.

We also have some rotating blue lights illuminating the night sky.

The fire brigade are currently digging a firebreak through last weekends bonfire so that we do not burn down next doors stables.

Nor should it be. Hence my endless rambling criticisms of the three A level system. Depth without breadth. Wrong priority, if you ask me, which nobody did.:D

I go round and round with this in my head.

I'm not sure this distinction is always helpful. I mean, it often gives credence to thinks which we need to remember are just ideas and suggests lack of rigour in areas with much rule and 'law' and tests ti those rules in them as parts of science.

Then at other times I feel reassured by the distinction!

One of the equestrian disciplines I follow most debates often whether it is a sport or an art, and I always think the answer is its'both' its an art that answers to the same restrictions imposed by the horses ( and humans) bodies as if it were done in less artistic manner.

Almost everything's an art. Technology is, although it's more dependent on science than craft nowadays, as we have more sophisticated demands. We all want happiness and satisfaction. Entertainment and pleasure and comfort and security are all desirable. Rigorous attention to detail in our studying the world gives us access to these in industrial quantities.

When I was a schoolboy I read an interesting book, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance which was downloadable free as an audiobook via a link on one of the threads on here. PM me if you can't find it.

It covered a major split in modern society between those who "get" technology and those who don't, and it was a real eye-opener. Probably seem a bit of a hippy-era book nowadays at first glance but it's actually pretty deep. ;)

    Me too Silvercar.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

It has crossed my mind a couple of times today that we haven't seen Generali for a couple of days. Let us all hope that Mrs G is OK....

    We're all "underqualified".
Quals aren't as important as the learning process itself, which deffo doesn't have to be formal. I love the fact that my understanding of the world is basic and elementary, and can only get better as I learn more.

OH is the brains of the outfit. And the looks. And the one with the charm, and the female equivalent of a handyman. I'm just glad I can open stubborn jars.:D

I love the US attitude where everyone keeps learning all the time.
I get my biggest kick from finding out new stuff.
PS please keep my risible quiz results from the rest of the posters as we all know what my scores are like.

Well, the email I BCC'd myself on has just arrived in my inbox.
I have the dregs of a box of wine drained into a glass.

And a whole 5 minutes to spare.
