At a routine GP appt a week ago I was telling GP how well I feel, and briefly mentioned something, GP asked a few questions requested a blood test, and I left teh surgery thinking post blood test I might be sent for diagnostics, might need a referral for a routine procedure.

I opened a letter late on Thursday night which is an appointment to see a Consultant for next Weds. An NHS Consultant first appt within 2 weeks (& sent a first class)I know this is the standard pathway for cancer, the Consultant also has a sub specialty interest in this.

I look on this as ruling out sinister stuff at the earliest point which is a good thing. But I was surprised as I had no inkling that GP might be considering this and yesterday felt as flat as a pancake. I hate surpises.

I wish you all the best Spirit. It sounds like you are in good hands and I hope you get a speedy and good result.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Good luck with the test, Spirit. Hope you get the result you want, and soon.

Me too. I even put her on the list for DH.....

But she wasn't having any of it:D

Since we are all hoping to have you around for aeons you can leave fir out of Nikkster's queue. We do need to arrange a meet-up for her and jelly as soon as the thesis is finished, though.

    What viva said.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Oh dear spirit. Even the ruling out is stressful.

Please keep us in the loop. If there is anything the more local np,s can do (I'm not that far really) please say.....fill the freezer, nag dd/DH, host dogs if you need overnight stays. Whatever.

    :)

I am expecting to turn up and be told it is 'blah' , you are fine.

    Well of course!

But I always think if you have a plan if it isn't its more likely to be the answer you want IYSWIM.

Hope you have a good day at home with your lovely Mr Spirit (and Miss Spirit if she is around) x

Mr S and I are pottering in the garden. Miss S is working on her dissertation...and we are being supportive by staying out of her way.

Someone else bought the stout little stallion. Which is a shame, and I am actually a little disappointed, which is a good sign, as everything else that we have shown interest in and not bought for whatever reason has felt like a relief. I guess I am nearer to being ready. Funny that it should be a big pony that gets me interested though....not so nice for riding down the big hill we live near. Sure footed though.

I suppose a trip to Scotland might be in order if I can travel soon. If that's what I am going to buy I might as well go to the source and buy decent ones from stud.

Zag, as you are around this morning and read across some interesting books of a human biology nature, have you ever read any Harold L Klawans? My husband loves his books, though I think they are out of print now.

I keep meaning to mention them to jelly too, they would fit in well alongside of a lot of the other things he reads.

A bit random, but unusually there are quite a few second hand cheap copies at the moment so thought I'd just mention in passing in case anyone is interested. They are non-fiction and are about neurology, but in a very approachable sense.

I find non-fiction like this fascinating. My must-read list just keeps growing.

Whenever I drive cross- country near allthesss's territory I get stuck behind horseboxes. I think he mentioned his DD goes horseriding too. Might want to mention when and where you're going to him. Expect he'll be watching the box right now though.

OH made some bread with basil and sun dried tomatoes.

It is still warm, smells delicious and he has just cut me a piece.

I have given it back to him.

There were too many bits of tomato in that bit and the appearance was offputting. It looked like a something had pooed on a slice of bread and trodden on it.

    As pastures would say, Ewww.
