Aldi £1.99 9 roll toilet rolls are just as good as some premium brands.

Things I don't scrimp on (but usually only buy when on offer):

Heinz ketchup (£3 1L at Asda)
Branson beans (£1 for 4 at Asda)
    Toothpaste (usually from Savers)
Teabags (I drink green tea and the cheap stuff is always nasty!)
Vimto (OH drinks it but the cheaper brands are more diluted so it's a false economy, £1 for 500ml or 750ml from £land)
Sanitary products (Lilets, Tampax or, best of all, Cottons but only when on offer. Cheap towels are like nappies!)
Original Source shower gel (£1 from Asda/Savers/Boots when on offer, OH likes mint and I like vanilla and raspberry, the Aldi versions just don't compare, sadly)
Bold 2-in-1 washing liquid (OH is allergic to other brands, £3.99 for 855ml in Savers)

I am still working my way through top brands of instant coffee (Carte Noir, Dowe Egberts, Kenco Rich, Nescafe Gold etc) that I bulk-bought over 5 years ago. Also top quality loo rolls bought over 6 years ago. I have just finished the Kleenex mansized tissues (2 large cartons bought about 7 years ago).
Obviously I bulk buy only if there are special offers - and I have the money.
The only trouble with buying in bulk is the shock you get when having to buy more years later at the latest prices. I still have several years supply of liquid and powder detergent.
My ex-wife did not understand that you have to speculate in order to accumulate. It's a better return than a cash ISA - so is getting a Solar PV system on your roof!

Wish I could but where do you store that much stuff?! :T
