What can i demand from apple because this is clearly a health and safety hazard.
It gives me and my son a shock whenever we touch the aluminium case.
we also have apple care, but that will cover the repair.
im looking for compensation.

Is that when its only plugged in to the mains ??
repair yes if its faulty .

This can happen if you plug its charger into a mains socket that isn't properly earthed.
I've experienced it myself (at a hotel in France) but it was only a very mild tingling and it ceased when I unplugged the charger.
For anything other than that, take it to an Apple Store.

Before you go shouting you want compensation at Apple get the socket you have it plugged into tested. Sounds like an earthing issue in your wiring.0

I'm totally stupid. I get an electric shock every time I get in a lift. How daft of me not to demand compensation. I could be rolling in it by now.
Has it caused damage to yourself or anyone else?
Have you had to attend hospital for treatment due to the electric shocks?
Have you had the plug/ wiring checked to be 100% sure it's not that?
Have you taken it to a fronds house and used it there to see if it did the same thing?
It can't be that much of a concern else this would be a post about how you had to have it replaced because it gave you electric shocks. You'd have already taken it to apple if it was a massive concern. If my laptop started giving me electric shocks last thing I'd do is take time to make a forum post about it.
Why not sue your electricity supplier for sending the electricity to the plugs?
Had it caused actual harm and was proven to be the laptop them fair enough. But seems to me you're just under some false impression that you're owed something for absolutely nothing.Sigless0 -

mojari52 -- Welcome to the forum! It's not a good idea to go straight on the attack, though. Please take the time to read through the forums and see how others word their questions.
You need to find out WHY it's giving you a shock because, in all probability, you have wiring issues in your home which could lead to very serious consequences such as damage to other tech or even fire!
As others have said, get your wiring checked urgently. In the meantime take the macbook to a friends house and try it there.
If your home proves to be safe and it still plays up elsewhere then speak to Apple.
Good luck!0 -

Please define 'shock' -
A mild tingling? A noticeable spark? A jolt that left you both writhing on the floor in need of medical attention?
I've often found items of audio equipment give off the mild tingle when connected in combination, but that's of no consequence, as it starts/stops when one or the other is switched off or disconnected.
As someone said - try it on another mains circuit, or in another house. If the problem goes away, it's an issue with either your mains circuit or whole house wiring.0 -

Hope you're proud of your superior intelects.
Yes, we can all read, thank you, kwikbreaks.
If we couldn’t, we would not be spending time on an online forum.
Nor, may I point out, does it need particularly superior “intelects” (sic) to know how to spell the word – even if this does elude your own. To carry off being patronising and condescending, your own grammar and spelling need to be perfect; otherwise it’s you who looks the fool, instead.
I agree with the policy of flagging newcomers and I always try to make the recommended allowances, myself. I can assure you that my own response to the OP would have been a great deal more robust to a seasoned member of the forum.
Although it’s normally kind to make a newcomer feel welcome, a few of them them do, unfortunately, forfeit that courtesy and and indulgence by what they actually post.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a newcomer attract so much sustained flak with his or her first posting as this one did.
And, frankly, I was greatly heartened by it in this particular instance.
It was reassuring and gratifying to see how many members of this board are clearly opposed to the exploitive “compensation culture” that has arisen in this country.
However generous one might be, some newcomers do render themselves unwelcome.
You will surely know who I am and the high degree of respect I have long had for the insight, analysis, knowledge and accuracy of your postings on technological matters. I’ve given you a Thanks on more occasions than I can remember (although I can’t recall you ever having had courtesy to do so for one of mine...).
I also respect the degree to which you are benign in your attitude toward others, in your postings.
For these reasons, I don’t think I’ve ever rebuked you before over one of them. (Nor, in fairness, do I think you’ve ever rebuked me, indirectly or otherwise, before.)
But on this occasion you are wrong and you are out of touch with the moral attitudes of this board.
Read again the original posting.

I think we’d have been told if anyone had suffered any serious harm or injury in this incident. Don’t you? This was not a poster seeking technical advice or assistance (indeed, that was made clear): this was, instead, a greedy person on the make, looking for a way to make a quick buck by suing or blackmailing Apple. And people like that are not welcome, here.
So, I suggest revise your position on this.
(By the way, I also think you’d be wise to change your signature. It may have possessed a certain sardonic pertinence last year but after the July there’s just been in Britain it makes you look a prat.)Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance
