  • Weddings? Alway bring out the best and worst in people.

It's your wedding. You control the budget, and you take donations, and choose who comes. If the money doesn't cover the budget, you have to cut the budget, and that means cutting the people. So you decide how many people you can afford, and you tell your future husband, that he can discuss privately with whomsoever he likes, about the possibility of taking further donations, so that more people can come. It's a bit of a game, but if your inlaws are made aware that only 30 people from each side can be invited, and you are looking for them to prioritise that side of the family, then who knows what the result will be.
My sister in law paid for most of my nephews wedding, but because it was held in the garden of his wife's parents, they pretended to all and sundry that it was they who were hosting it. Well yes, it's your garden, so you must be.
  • Some people are just old fashioned and think it's the brides family who should pay.
