OH and I discussed at length about a purchase (could afford it,not going into debt over it, could live without it, could wait for it, would have been nice to have) so we agreed to not get it right now and then after all that OH goes and buys it anyway without telling me until after he has bought it:D
I can't work out what was the point of asking me if he was going to go and get it anyway, does my actual opinion count for nothing, was I just being humored, was he always going to buy it regardless of what I thought and just spoke to me about it out of politeness.
What was the point of asking me?
Should I be peeved about it,I'm not his mother he can spend as he pleases so long as he does not get into debt and he didn't, not sure, what do you think?

That doesn't matter, it still grates I suppose that in the grand scheme of things I got totally ignored and OH bought it anyway or I could be pleased as punch he took the initiative and bought it after having agreed we would wait, men are from mars .....:D0 -

TBH, I would be a bit peeved about it - not because he's bought something but because of the 'we agreed not to get it right now' part.
And that he didn't tell you he'd decided to buy it before he did - IYSWIM.
I wouldn't let it develop into a major row, probably just say something like you've already posted on here:
'Why did we have the whole discussion if you were going to buy it anyway?'0 -

Thanks:D that is what I am trying to say, how to feel about it because as far as I knew we were getting it but not now, later and had agreed that and then the next thing I know is that he has actually gone ahead and bought it and then told me:D
Surely would have been better to discuss it, agree to disagree and then for OH to say 'actually no, I have had a think about it and I want to get it now' done:D0 -

During the 'shall we, shan't we?' discussion was he really, really in total agreement with you that you would wait?
Or was it a 'I really want to buy it now, but I'll agree with her that we'll wait and go right out and buy it now anyway'?
Did he have a good reason for deciding to buy it now e.g. it was an ipad that he'd want to use on a recently booked holiday coming up soon?
Did he buy it because he got a good price and thought it might go up?0 -

Good points. The thing is I don't know the answer to question 1 or 2 without any conviction now, I thought we had agreed to wait:D
Question 3 no and question 4 yes I reckon yes he did get a good price and could have been worried it might go up?0 -
Seems strange to have an in depth conversation, weighing up all the pros and cons and deciding to delay purchase, only to then go out and buy something anyway. Your discussion may have left your husband feeling more secure about buying this item. If there was a deal on that was far too good to miss, perhaps he decided to purchase it now knowing it wouldn't put you both in debt. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0
