Im exactly the same fannyanna. The advertising makes them look great and reading the online reviews they all get very mixed opinions.

Its an expensive mistake if you get it wrong and I suppose the best opinion to go on is from someone who currently is using one.
I suspect the one my friend is praising is more of a commercial one so I cant really take much notice of that.

I'm now thinking of getting one of those hand held jobs instead as most reviews seem to say that even though they are good for kitchen floors they can leave it very wet and you still need to wipe over afterwards.

I'm thinking get the hand held for the hob, stubborn marks on floor, loo seat hinges, grout etc and just keep mopping the kitchen floor.

I've always been indecisive, does it show?

Even when I've made my mind up which to get I will have an even bigger dilemma if it come in 2 different colours!!!!
  • I borrowed a big multi-purpose steam cleaner with all the attachments and although I had it for about 6 months, it got used maybe twice. It was good, but it took ages to get out and heat up.

I bought a little hand held one from Lidl early this year and I've used it loads. It only takes 5 minutes to heat up and is really easy. I wouldn't bother with a big one again as I never used it for floors anyway.

I bought the Morphy Richards 9 in 1 at the Ideal Home Exhibition earlier in the year. It was on offer at £59.99.

I love it but I have laminate floors all through ground floor and it is far easier to use than a mop & bucket. I like the handheld cleaner part of it too & it's great to clean the bathroom tiles and defrost the freezer with. I also like the window cleaner function but takes a bit of getting used to.

I could have bought a cheaper one but find this is very versatile.

I've had a couple of the handheld ones, the first one lasted years before it gave up (it'd been knocked to the floor more than once) I replaced it with similar for about £15 from the now defunct Netto. Don't use it that often, but is brilliant for defrosting the freezer, cleaning the grooves on some of the upvc windows and spot cleaning bits of carpet (blutac and suchlike)

I'd not risk using any steam product on laminate flooring.

I've just ordered one on Sunday, which I'm hoping will arrive by the end of this week!!

I did HOURS of research, and eventually went for the Black and Decker 2 in 1 one, as lots of the other 2-in-1 models had reviews about being flimsy and heavy to hold.

We had a puppy, and I HATE mopping floors - the water is filthy after just a small section, so I thought this would be far more fun!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I have the Vax - gone through three of em (worked them to death)

Once a month i use it to deep clean the kitchen, bathroom, the litter tray cupboard and do the lino.

Every six months or so i run it over the carpets. just to spruce them up and kill any nasties (have animals)

Twice a year i do the window frames - i have old lead lighters that get black spores on them if not kept.

I find it to unwieldy for everyday use but by 'ek you can tell when i used it to deep clean
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...

Me too bought the same one at the same place! I have found it great, cleaned carpets (if heavy wear area I would probably get a rug doctor as previous stated) in the bedroom, on laminate, tiled floors etc. also the handheld bit on the hob and in the oven and in the bathroom. Am happy with the purchase, wouldn't want to spend anymore on one tho.

would I buy it again? yep probably would. I use warm water which has been through the water softener f this helps.

I've got a Morphy Richards 9 in 1 model and it's ok but won't blow you away. Cleaning grout in the shower is fantastic, the floor moping is pretty good. I've used it on the glass in the shower cubicle and it was ok but not as good as I thought. Think it will take a few more goes of it to get used to how it works.

It heats up very quickly, within minutes and you can get quite a bit done before needing to refill.
  • I had one of the small ones that looks like a thermal jug. Thought I would use it for loads of things but used it mainly to clean the bathroom. Was too scared to try it on windows in case they cracked but quite good for cleaning up the UPVC frames and doors. DS1 asked if he could have a go, so he used it for a couple of minutes, got bored and passed it back to me with his hand still on the trigger - 120 degree steam right across my stomach ...owww!!
