The Morphy Richards 9 in 1 steam cleaner.
Looks great but am not sure I believe all the hype.
Has anyone got one? Are they as good as they make out?

HI swingaloo,
I was thinking the same thing. I really want to buy one, but does it really work for the money!
Hope you get the answers you want! :-)0 -
My thought exactly. I was speaking to someone yesterday who said 'We use a similar one at work, they are wonderful' (that's in a care home) She says they 'Do everything' with them.
Theres just this bit of me that says 'where does the muck go' lol
Im also confused by the claim that windows can be done with them, surely the steam would be too hot for the glass?0 -
No idea about that specific one, but we have a steam cleaner that we use to clean the huge bird cage. Scrubbing all the bars with a sponge takes ages, but the steam cleaner blasts everything off so well all you need to do is give a wipe over afterwards to be sure everything is removed. We use it in the bathroom as we're in an apartment otherwise outside might be better for our situation, but it is a nice timesaver.0

My sister bought a steam cleaner - not this one, it was a while ago - to tackle her oven and said it was totally useless.
MR also recommend you use distilled, de-ionised or de-mineralised water to reduce the effects of lime scale.
As the tank is 400ml capacity, how much would it cost to run?0 -
I have got a Polti steam cleaner and to be honest it gets used maybe 3 times a year.
I have found that you shouldn't use it on laminate or Amtico type flooring, it does a good job on lino type floors though. As for carpets, it can make the pile come up a bit and is ok for light traffic areas but it doesn't touch and areas that have a lot of traffic (I need something like the Rug Doctor for that) I have on occasion used it on glass (windows) but was told it could damage them although tbh I think the risk of that happening is more likely to occur when the temperature is a lot colder outside (winter) A lot of the blurb states it can be used on ovens and to defrost freezers etc yet when you read the manufacturer's instructions for these appliances steam cleaning is not recommended.
Personally I wish that I hadn't othered.0 -
I also have a Polti steam cleaner but hardly use it. It's easier to mop up than use the cleaner as the pads never stay on properly and they get soaking wet. However it is brilliant for defrosting the freezer and cleaning the hinges around the toilet seat (very useful with 3 males in the house). Other than that I don't bother with it as it takes too long to heat up and I can basically clean up in that time!0

I've got a vax steam cleaner and I used it last time I defrosted my freezer-even though you're not meant to. I was careful and found it to be quick and efficient.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I've got a floor steam cleaner and a hand held one.
The floor one l wouldn't part with it's worth every penny with plenty of wooden and tiled floors, the hand held one is a different matter..... you still have to use products with them l find especially on the cooker top (and yes for cleaning the inside of ovens it's rubbish - ditto the washing machine drawer) but it's fine for giving things a blast.
Happy moneysaving all.0 -
We got one fairly recently - cheap £19.99 job, it is a little hand held one.
We got it because we have a travertine tile bathroom and you have to be carefull when cleaning it. It is natural stone so you don't want to take anything harsh on it (like Cilit bang), but the grout in the shower corner gets black deposits and the tiles sometimes too.
So I clean it with just the steam once in a while. It does make a massive difference, without use of any cleaning chemical. I haven't used it on oven yet, but I am planning on doing that.
I more wonder how well does it work on clothes (instead of ironing). They say you can use it for that and I have a dettachable head for that but never tried it...0 -
Funnily enough I've been thinking about getting a steam mop but wasn't sure whether or not it would be any good.
I find our kitchen floor quite difficult to clean. Grime really gets stuck. A steam mop seems like a solution but I'm dubious.
So if anyone has a positive experience and can recommend a product please let me know0
