My health issues are chronic fatigue amongst other things (not ME luckily) so anything too energetic is out. I use public transport for which I'm lucky enough to have a free pass.
Some days I'm not well enough to do anything, but on the days I am all the things I can think of doing (meeting up with friends, cinema etc) cost money!
I'm starting to think that it might be a better idea for me to just try and stick to a weekly budget rather than set myself NSD targets.
Hi Lurker, totally sympathise and I think when you are skint or unwell its an easy habit to get into, if you are both skint & unwell its almost inevitable and its not good for you. For various reasons I am uncomfortable inviting people to my house, so its meet them out or at their place.
Having a going out budget is OK and you could call that Lurkers going out budget so using it wouldn't necessarily lose your NSD, but that's up to you. See Fed-ups tips for birthday budgeting (thanks Fed-up).
My money saving tips are : meet for a drink or coffee, or lunch rather than dinner as costs less and can either walk or get public transport to get home. Try to still meet people, either you know or new people. Having time off during normal working hours can be a bit lonely so volunteering seems a great idea (from Beanie or Marmite was it) if you feel up to it.
My main advice is try to get out every day, I have at least 30 mins walk or 1 hour cycle I don't know if you could manage that far, but maybe you could try to build it up slowly? The mid-week shop is a walk to the local shops or MrAldoo so I can't overspend as I have to carry it :rotfl:. You may in a better position than me as I am working but broke (debt) and therefore not entitled to any discounts, but if you have any benefits, check out what extra discounts you might get for swimming or yoga or something gentle?
Do you like animals? rescue centres often need people just to sit/groom animals.
As you see here we all like to help with ideas so tell us if all our ideas don't work for you.:DDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Lurker~good advice from kerri(as always)Blimey kerri what a bloomin' saga.
I agree on both counts!
Lurker could you possibly have a 'going out' /entertainment budget, which would give you some leeway. It might be a small amount, but might help you feel less guilty about going out and doing things?
Do you use the local library-books galore and dvds also available I believe?Any local mus!ums/art galleries-you might get in for free.A nice park to have a wander and a picnic?Having a book/dvd swap with friends?
kerri what a nightmare!I hope that it all gets sorted PDQ.0 -
