  • The box works ok, and you get a month's Sky movies for the initial cost.
But beware, the sign-up process includes one of those 'auto renewal' scams, where they take a monthly amount out unless you specify. It was well hidden, so I didn't notice until they took a second payment from me.
And, as I didn't expect the movies to be available after the first month, I didn't watch any more and it's nearly expired now.
Naturally, they didn't e-mail me about this until I stopped the auto-renewal.
It's a common trick: for example, you want to try cancelling your AA membership after the first year at introductory rates. They sent me three new cards and renewal confirmations, even though I cancelled with over a month to go. When I called to complain, the operator put the phone down on me.

I left auto-renew on as I'm on the £250 pcm for six month deal but will turn it off at the end of this period. It's easy to see and change this status on the web site after you log in.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

I just bought one of these. Once I'd gone through the process of buying it, it tells me I have to subscribe:
'You will need a NOW TV account in order to use your box. If you don't already have one, please sign up to a Sky Movies Pass 30 day free trial or purchase a Sky Sports Day Pass for just £9.99.'
So actually it costs more than the 9.99. The free trial of course assumes you will forget to cancel...
    i also have found this but where is the following;
The Now TV box will give you free access to:
    • BBC iPlayer
    • Demand 5
    • BBC News
    • Sky News
    • Spotify
    • Facebook
    • Flickr
    • then told i should have had a yearly pass for the above which was not in the Box ....

I use mine for catch up services like BBC iplayer. I can also see YouTube.

BBC News and Sky News are not streaming services for me but static news stories. I have no interest in Facebook or Spotify.

You need an account to use the service but don't need to buy programmes unless you want one or more of the optional Sky packs.

bev2plr and others. You CAN just have this box for £9.99. You DON'T have to pay anything extra. I'm sure the box will make it look like you do.
Just go to www.sky.com on your computer, and create a 'Sky ID'. You don't have to be a Sky TV subcriber, or pay them a penny to do this.
After this I'm sure there's a way to simply log in on the NowTV box without ever spending another penny.
  • I bought a Now TV box last week and am very pleased with it, although there are a few minor issues to be aware of.

Although you can watch BBC and C4 channels live when viewed via a laptop, live viewing of those channels isn't available via the apps on the Now TV box, it is all just catch up for now. You can view the ITV channels live, but if you live in Scotland, you will need to enter an English postcode into the settings for the ITV app, as it's not viewable within Scotland, and there is no STV app.

You can buy the boxes from Amazon, but I bought mine directly from Now TV as it was free delivery.

I couldn't work out how to create an account without paying £6.99 for a month's entertainment package, which I may or may not keep (you can unsubscribe at any time). The workaround described above, where you create an account within Sky might work. There is the option of a monthly Sky Movies package for £9.99 per month (again, can be switched on and off easily it would seem). The entertainment package contains 13 channels, including Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, MTV, Discovery, and those channels can be viewed live.

Wish I'd got this ages ago. I am a very happy new customer. I will be cancelling my VM cable TV package shortly.

The workaround is to take a free trial of Movies and then cancel it before the 30 day period is up.

Is there any way to get DailyMotion at all? Seems strange having YouTube but not DailyMotion.

    .

You don't need to have to "remember" to cancel after signing up to the free trial.

You can cancel straight after signing up - saves you remembering - and you still get the full trial (even though you have cancelled)
  • I own one of these myself, as does my Mum. I-Player and Spotify are useful gadgets to have in my eyes. The SKY Sports Day pass is a blessing especially for a supporter of a "smaller" club, who can buy these whenever my club is on TV.

Liking the entertainment pack, especially all the box sets on the ITV Encore on demand - so many classic dramas on there.

afaik, opening a nowtv account doesnt cost anything- you can add passes for movies, extra tv ('entertainment'), or sport stuff.

At the moment, the nowtv entertainments pass will not work on a youview box- some tech / licensing issues?)

There are some free codes around, if you care to look!

** BE SURE to cancel before any trial / pass is due to expire, to avoid recurring charges. **
breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??
