That would be what I was predicting / moaning about when Martin explained how he'd sold the site and how things were going to be run from now on...
I hate being right (since my speciality is negative stuff)! I hope this kind of thing is an anomaly, not a trend.
I agree the article should make more mention of how artificially-crippled the box is. Also, criticise the poor selection of channels more. Also advise people that better kit can be got for just a few tens of quid on top, i.e. no point getting one for a tenner that's a false economy and full of adverts as any Sky product, even when paid-for, must be! That's the biggest popular scam around, Sky's adverts.
Also, I wouldn't trust the quality of Sky's TV via the internet. The one time I got SkyGo to work (for testing purposes; personally, I'd not fund Murdoch) first of all it plain didn't work due to overly-cheap Sky spending on software design quality - and second, the picture quality was visibly-worse, or on a par with only the worst of illegal downloads (e.g. worse than ten-year-old video technology) are, and was cost/benefit-wise worse, as it was fully paid-for!0 -
My mate got a cheap Core2Duo PC for £60 which would be more than powerful-enough to run the software to display this - without any restrictions on what video can be streamed. Of course, a lot of setting-up is required, but of course, it's a full PC so one can save money by using it for other stuff on the side, if there's a need, too.
Although if the box can be hacked (the hacker groups work wonders compared to stock software, typically), then all bets are off!0 -

You will always need a free nowtv account, but yes - if you take out the offer of £2.50 a month and cancel it at the end, you will still be able to use it.Princess Sparklepants0

Nowtv have offered me their service for £4 month (up to 6 months) so have ordered the box to compliment the deal.
(hopefully less faff than their Silverlight player on a computer!)
Shame they didn't put Nowtv on the Wii or Viera to save having more leads.0 -

Have my shiny new white box today, it's tiny! (Ordered Monday)
Easy to set-up and load some apps (channels) from the Roku Store.
Vevo is great as loads of pop videos. Nice picture and only the odd advertisement. Just leaving it to loop through the playlist.0 -
