Changes to Ebay Final Value Fees

Most often though buyers don't expect a refund.
I recently sold one lot and there were a couple short out of 50 items, the buyer said she wasn't bothered as the postage was free.
Buyer's perception of 'free post' is quite illogical..0 -
I haven't read through this whole thread will do later when I have more time. But I think this is great news as a seller it wouldn't effect me too much as I always charge fair postage costs, but as a buyer I get annoyed when I have been overcharged on post.0

Why would you refund someone if they bought more than one "free" postage item?
Because there's no such thing as "free postage". The postage is added onto the cost of the item.but as a buyer I get annoyed when I have been overcharged on post.
... from next month - you'll have no idea how much you've been charged for postage.... ignorance is bliss as they say!Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. If ebay are now going to charge 10% on the postage as well as the item this will make it very expensive for personal sellers like myself to send small packets - with £2.60 going to Royal Mail and then another 26p going to ebay this will increase the cost of a small packet to not far off £3 when the packaging is also factored in. And this is only second class, which means if it does not arrive promptly then the stars can get lowered.
This is going to put off a lot of buyers bidding on small low value items, which are not worth more than a few quid to the buyer but not worth it for me to sell for only £1 or so profit.
Between ebay and royal mail, they are pretty much killing off ebay for small personal sellers.0 -

Correct it will be much easier to compare prices.
I am now confused does this apply to just business sellers or business and private sellers?0 -

Will private sellers need to pay fees on postage and packaging?
Yes, this change will affect all sellers on eBay.co.uk.0 -
Just thinking about it this is not going to stop the high postage charges as the reason people do this is so they can list for 99p to avoid listing fees, so nothing will change expect ebay will make more profit.
I know the above only applies to private sellers but in my experience it is only private sellers who do this anyway.0 -

Exactly!!!0 -
That doesn't really make sense. If it goes all free postage (and that isn't likely) there'll be less customers complaining they were overcharged.ballisticbrian wrote: »... from next month - you'll have no idea how much you've been charged for postage.... ignorance is bliss as they say!
Despite what some people think the majority of buyers do prefer 'free' postage, I probably think that's as daft as others but it is the case..0 -

I do think it depends on the category.
I only really noticed recently that my automatic search was for lowest price first, free postage and most importantly, I will only buy from a registered business.
I do occasionally buy things for my OH or sons that have postage as an extra, but it is very rare and even then I would only buy from a business.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
