Help, accused of theft at work.

Jenny, why don't you PM zzzLayzDaisy. She's brilliant at this kind of thing. As its now formal you do need expert advice.
You don't say what happened in the first investigatory meeting. That will be useful to know. I guess it didn't go well given the outcome.
If it were me I would register a grievance over the handling of the situation. I would also not rely 100% on the advice of the Union rep. Though useful, I'd personally also be speaking to an employment solicitor. That's where zzzLazyDaisy's informal opinion will come in handy.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -
Jenny: Hope all goes well for your husband tomorrow. I'll second the suggestion of sending a pm to LazyDaisy.0

Daisy doesn't accept PMs, I'm afraid. Redundancy forum (not on this site, another one) may be a good place? There's a general employment section.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Thank you for the good wishes.
The investigatory meeting never happened, they went straight to disciplinary, not sure why. It's happening at 4.30 this afternoon, and he is determined to go in calm and confident even though he is nervous, as he knows he is not at fault as he just made a simple human error and the person responsible for all this fuss is the one who stood and watched him do it but never said anything then ran telling tales the next day.
Will report back when we know the outcome. May need a bit of advice on a grievance whichever way it goes.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

It was a good place but SarEL hasn't been on for a while after the accusations so alot of posts are not getting replies.
OP- Did you know that this meeting was going to be a disciplinary...ie did they give enough notice?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Have they now actually ascertained what this disciplinary is all about then, and what he actually did wrong?DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Hi all, sorry to be so tardy with the update.
They really put him through the mill at his disciplinary - I've read the transcript and I'm really proud of the cool calm way he reacted, I would have walked out!
Having been foiled on the theft thing they dropped that altogether and concentrated on the not doing a job properly part. They even dragged up a 5 year old verbal warning (which I believe they can't do) for something quite different. In the end he has been given a written warning, which I feel is harsh but he doesn't want to appeal because it would mean going all through it again, and as he says at least he still has his job.
However it was all so badly handled that with the help of his union rep we are putting together a grievance, not just about the disciplinary but also covering several other things that have been brewing where they are behaving completely contrary to the health and safety laws.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks for all your support.Oh dear, here we go again.0
