This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning chums wet weather forecast today so it may be a little cooler, but the sun is due back again soon.I have a quiz night tonight which I always enjoy at a local pub I'm driving so its lime, soda and ice for me, cheap as chips and quite refreshing as well.
The quiz is only £2.00 so a cheap night out:)
Right time to scuttle off and have some tea and a shower
have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xxx
P.S. I think Halight is on his holidays0 -
Good morning everyone
Real hi and fly visit today as am running extremely late.
Cold sore is taking over my lip ... or feels like it is. Either I was too late with the acyclovir or it was past its best
Weight loss is pretty pathetic at 0.1kg but at least it's down rather than stay the same or up.
YS Venison sausages, cauliflower mash and broccoli for dinner, salads for lunches.
Got some ebay stuff finishing tonight so will be keeping my fingers crossed as have lots of watchers but not many bids yet.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning everyone :j
Just a flying visit this morning as I am taking my daughters to Plymouth on the train so they can go ice skating. I really hope everything goes smoothly, I've been up since 4am with anxiety but the only way to get rid of it is to actually do the thing you are scared of!
I have an atrocious sense of direction so it should be interesting! I've tried looking on Google Maps so I can see how to get to the rink from the train station but I'm even more confused now.
Anyway, eldest DD is coming over to take the dog out and check up on the cats so that's one less thing to worry about.
Hope everyone has a great day and as always gentle hugs for those who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning All,
Just a quick visit from me too.
Feel like the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Been moving money about, at 2am this morning, to make it available to go into the Halifax to meet mortgage DD. All went well. :j Just got to do it all over again tomorrow at 2am to meet other DD's/SO's!
Then next week, when my salary goes into the Halifax, move the money back from whence it came yesterday and this morning!
I know all this could have a negative affect on GDP/inflation/Sterling and I do apologise to one and all! :rotfl: And a big thank you to my OH who got roped into helping :T A meal out this week will be in order methinks.
Ok time to get ready to go to work; hope I don't snore too loudly today!
See you all later for a catch up.0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud and overcast with a bit of a breeze here this morning.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was grilled gammon steaks, eggs, mash, peas, mushrooms and onion sauce for those that wanted it. Desserts from the tins/fridge. Tonight we will be having spag bol - haven't had that in ages so that will be a nice change.
Work was horrendous yesterday, dead for the first half hour and then relentless, half an hour before we closed we had a queue of people back to the door. The situation is not helped by the fact that we only had 2 advisors, myself and another colleague - it's not enough and the management know this - customers were waiting over an hour to be seen. Hoping today will be a little calmer, but not really that hopefull as so many people came in yesterday and saw how busy we were and said they would come back today!
Someone said they have some bits on ebay - we have an item on at the moment too, it has lots of watchers but no bids as yet - hoping it will sell so we can at least get rid of it - we don't need it anymore and it will be a really good buy for someone.
Take it easy everyone, and remember the suncream if you're out in the sun x
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone,
Dumpling Have a big hug, hope that you begin to feel happier soon.
Tru Hope that the dentists is ok.
Molly, Julie, LW, Hilstep and Jools Hugs for you.
NAR If you have too much money you can always move a bit in my direction!
Judi I love the name, the two names sound really good together. I remember when my youngest DD was born I was so convinced that she was going to be a boy that we hadn't even considered girl's names. It took us 3 weeks to agree on one!
Up early to get DS up for work experience, he really enjoyed it yesterday.
I am off out to visit a friend for coffee later and then I am having my hair cut. Tonight I am going out for a curry with an old friend. We did our teacher training together 27 years ago!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

....
Hope it goes well today.
Have you tried doing directions on Bing and printing them out, so your daughters can follow them like a treasure trail? Would work really well if they don't know where they are actually going ice-skating0 -
Morning all,
Rain here, but meant to get brighter later on washing will have to be on the airer today.
Meanmarie, fresh pineapple will work wonders on your mouth ulcer xx
TTFTM Boots to a cold sore liquid which works wonders, its in a tiny bottle and is a clear liquid, clears mine up in a couple of days.
Need to do an internet shop this morning, and then have a tidy round, I have an important appointment this afternoon so need to get ready for that.
Took dd to the Dr yesterday, she has ripped a muscle in the wall of her chest, The doc said she needs to be careful of Pleurisy, so she is now on 2 kinds of tablets, lets hope these help the pain.
Ok have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
missing in action yesterday ...early-retired speak for "got up late because I could". Well, it was the first Monday of my 'new' lifestyle. I've been on the go since 7am today though, to make it up.
I have two young men sorting out the garden (OK, back yard) for me as I couldn't manage it the way it was anymore, both from a mobility point of view or from a practical usage point of view. By the end of the week, fingers crossed for rain, it will be paved and on three gentle levels rather than a messy gravelly slope with mis-placed stepping stones and a wobbly loose lay paved area.
I'll even have raised beds and gentle steps down to the garage instead of the assorted heights at present. And, they've found the 'missing' drain that DH buried accidentally. All good so far.
Tonight we have gammon steaks and the broad beans I bought at the new market. DH ate lots while I was podding them earlier.
Hugs to all who want or need one and have fun xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all
Of to the Dr's at 1, DD will take me as hubby is working.
I still have a lot of back pain, but hopefully it will get better as I get moving.
Thanks for all your good wishes.
Hugs Hester0
