Glass in Heinz baked beans

I find it odd that people here think that £30 in Heinz vouchers is acceptable. True, he probably won't get £30 in real cash if he goes through the small claims court, but I certainly wouldn't be happy with the offer. My advice: take your custom elsewhere, and do not to buy Heinz products in the future.0

How much do you think is acceptable for a non-event resulting in no injury and no loss?
There is no entitlement to compensation for what may have happened but didn't, only what has happened. I find it odd that people may think that compensation is due when nothing happened, and funnily enough the law agrees.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I agree that their isn't much entitlement by law. I'm talking from a customer relationships angle. £30 in actual cash would be acceptable in my view.0 -
Thanks for the responses. But a sarcastic edge is not necessary. I genuinely thought glass in food was a problem. Obviously not.
Well it is - but by going back to the manufacturers with it isn't going to acheive anything other than a 'goodwill gesture', or 'compensation', or £30 worth of vouchers;)
If you have an issue with food which is contaminated then you should report it to your local Trading Standards.
In this case you won't get compensation (from the manufacturer) but, should others have a similar problem which they report then an investigation will be carried out; if deemed necessary the batch will be recalled.
So, if it happens again you need to consider whether you want compensation or to ensure society, as a whole, is kept safe. Your call!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

And small claims is to claim for a financial loss. As he's been offered £30 he hasn't lost anything.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Take it to the daily mail, there's always stories like that on there all the time....makes me dubious when I hear things like this now, especially when you've been offered £30 in vouchers....but that's not good enough, you want to take it further....what exactly do you want of them?0

he doesn't even like baked beans...0

You've approached this matter in entirely the wrong way. What you should have done was fed the beans to a small child, taken x-rays (most doctors will gladly provide this service for a small charge) and then sent off the evidence to several national newspapers. Heinz would have caved in and paid you massive compensation. Result. :j0

I guess that Heinz don't believe the glass came from the goods and they are giving the £30 to make you go away. I am confused as to where in the process glass would be involved (from a food hygiene point of view their shouldn't be any glass used in the manufacturing).
Is it possible that it came from as kitchen utensil/jug which was used to heat up the goods?
Ultimately, Heinz have apologised and investigated where it came from.. not too sure what else you expect.0
