Peel Car Park Fine - Stockport

Options
Feeling somewhat bemused but just cheking the current advice is to ignore!

Had a parking fine through the post (nothing was put on my car at the time) today (29/7/13) for a parking infringement two weeks ago on 15/7/13.

I travelled 25 miles to Stockport and dropped my children off at a drama rehersal for the first time having never been before. To kill some time, I went to the KFC at Peel Car park at 7.30PM and stayed until 7.58PM. I wasnt aware it was pay and display until I was driving out of the car park, but didnt think any more about it as I (wrongly) assumed there would be no issues so late in the day.

Ive had a parking charge notice for £60 from excel with two photos of my licence number. Is the latest advice is to just ignore?

No that is old advice. The current advice is to do a 'soft' appeal to the PPC as the Registered Keeper (not admitting who was driving). The PPC will almost certainly refuse your appeal but the purpose is to get a verification code so you can appeal to POPLA. You then need to send a robust appeal to POPLA. The regular posters have 100% success rate for people who follow their advice.

Have a look at the stickies at the top of this thread and so a search for excel. You will get the idea.

If you post your appeal to excel here, before sending it, someone will check it over for you. Note don't respond to PMs unless you check here first - the PPC do read these forums and may just offer to 'help' you ;)

Watch the time limit for appealing.

Not sure why you didn't just search this forum for 'Excel Peel' and find current threads on Excel and the Peel Centre, there are LOADS - and none of them tell you to ignore it (not in 2013).

Here's a few recent ones (not the old ones saying 'ignore' you somehow found):

HTH, tell us please when you finally get as POPLA code out of Excel and do NOT fall for their lies that you 'have to name the driver'. You DO NOT and your challenge should refer to 'the driver' in the third person. As you will read on every single thread one here (whether Excel or any other PPC) it's all the same advice. Read a few on page one of this forum. And do not send a random hasty appeal to POPLA; we know how to word a winning appeal.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
