Rank meat at Aldi!!

For any meat to go off before its use by date probably means that it hasn't been stored properly.
So if this meat has been bought like this it raises questions. I would certainly take it back and bring to the store managers attention.
If its too manky to keep until you have a chance to return it I would ring the store and explain the situation. A lot of stores will offer an exchange and refund also, not sure if Aldi do this though.0 -

The potential issue is that Aldi could claim it is the OP's storing that hasn't been adequate, particularly if it is the only complaint.
However I think SOGA will be on the OP's side and I doubt Aldi will cause a fuss.0 -
The OP states they took the meat out to "use up"; this sounds like the OP had already opened the packet before and left the meat in it. As soon as modified/protected atmosphere packaging is opened to air - even a pin !!!!! - the product will deteriorate.0

In the last month or so I have experimented by turning the fridge down to 3C I think the factory setting was 5 or 6C and it made one heck of a difference in how long things like strawberries and cream keep fresh for.
Interesting to then read this weekend that they reckon 4C will save a fortune on wasted food. I have moved my fridge up to 4C now.0 -

Agreed, however I took it as meaning they were using the whole packet as it was approaching the use by date.0 -
I never find out how good or bad Aldi is, all the ones round here are infested with Parking Eye so I never use them, I shop elsewhere where they don't have a scammer operating in the car park.Be happy...;)0

To be honest though this is a case of asking the obvious. I'd understand if they'd been to Aldi & couldn't get a refund or replacement but going here before they've even done anything is a bit odd!0 -
God almighty, I wouldn't dream of buying some chicken, using some of it then leaving the rest for a week in the fridge.... Im surprised it wasn't knocking on the inside of the fridge so it could walk out itself.
Yak...make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
My own experience is that it isn't stored correctly
Please, do share your experience - my experience is totally the opposite.0 -
I would never buy meat from Lidl or Aldi. My own experience is that it isn't stored correctly and they don't care about food safety. I once bought a loaf of bread from Aldi with 5 days life. When I opened it, it was covered in mold. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept the meat unrefrigerated.
What a load of tosh which I sent to both Aldi and Lidl, so their legal teams can have a look.0
