Cannot check in online with Jet2?

I've never flown with them before. Usually its a breeze doing online check in with ryanair or easyjet. However, when I log in to the Jet2 site it says online check in is not available and to check in at the airport. I tried yesterday and again today despite the flight being tomorrow and not possible to check in.

Now I'm worried about getting there and them levying charges, or perhaps there's a problem with the flight which is stopping check in?

Also when logging in the site it says no seats available and mentions upgrading to another seat. I can't do it anyway due to not being able to select online check in, but anyone seen that with jet2 saying that no seats available? That seems very strange and I'm thinking whether they oversold. Is this another way to gain money when at the airport by forcing paying for a seat?

I had a problem with online check-in with Jet2 on one occasion. Rang them up and they put a note on my booking that I could check-in at the airport at no extra charge.

It's from Newcastle to Krakow tomorrow departing at 2:05pm.

Tried the phone but lines are closed. I have a very long trip to the airport tomorrow leaving at about 6am so not much chance to ring them.

Here is the exact wording about seats -

'Standard seating is not available for your reservation(s). Your reservations(s) have been converted to Airport Checkin free of charge.
Other seats may still be selected (extra legroom)'

Sounds ok about converting to airport check in though means queueing at the airport but some google digging revealed an old post about a person being charged despite it saying that, and no standard seats?! How can that be unless they have oversold?

    Thanks for the replies.

Yep best option. It does seem pretty weird. No so much the unavailability of online check in, I suppose, but also saying no standard seats are now available. Having googled and searched on here very few people seem to have had this problem which makes me a bit suspicious. Just hope the flight isn't cancelled given the mammoth trip tomorrow to the airport. Can't even ring them as will be on a long distance train when their call centre opens, and they don't have twitter.

People knock ryanair but in dozens of flights I've never had a problem checking in!

It sounds like the flight is full - BA stop people checking in online when this happens.

you can check in 28 days in advance for Jet2 flights, have you tried checking in for the return flight?
I guess I would also be concerned that all the free seats have been taken over the last 3+ weeks leaving only the seats you pay extra for. Not sure what they would do at the airport if these are the only ones left

The return is not with jet2 so can't check that. Can all the seats be taken? That would mean everyone has already checked in and been allocated - that strikes me as unlikely as normally there's quite a few who check in at the airport, plus even standard seats have a fee for reserving if you actively choose a specific one I believe rather than be allocated.

If it's like most airlines we've flown with only so many seats are available to pre-select and for online check-in...some are held back for allocation at the airport and since there is such a short time before the flight I would guess that that's what's happened.

I don't know the statistics but I would assume most people check in online now, especially on an airline that allows online check-in so far in advance and normally charges for airport check-in.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I suspect it means all the standard seating has been booked, and that you'll wind up getting upgraded to extra leg room seats free of charge, however you may not be sat together.
