thank you. i am actually still with O2 and haven't transferred over yet so unless I've missed something there's not much difference between calling a few months ago and calling today. (I don't want sky TV and wouldn't have taken up the TV related offer.)

The 02 offer is not available now, but you've effectively received the same offer from Sky.
The prime reason that Sky have bought 02 is to 'incentivise' those customers to take up pay TV as well as phone/broadband. 02's 12m free incentive was to prevent customers bailing out prior to the takeover date.

Just a quick one to say thanks to everyone for your help. Sky had the best all round deal with 0870/0845 numbers as well as caller display included.

So in the end I got:

    Sky
    Line Rental 9.95* (12 months pay upfront @ £119.40*)
    Call Package 5.00 (Anytime)
    Broadband 0.00

So it works out at £14.95 per month. Once I've paid the one off payment it'll be £5 per month.

    N.B.
It was an additonal £10 per month for international calls which is too expensive. I'll really will miss the luxury of just dialling the US and Europe without having to dial an access number first.

*Discounted line rental if paid upfront.

I have just spoke to sky about moving from O2

the only way i could get free broadband was to take tv package for 12 months (although that was free)

    so was offered
    bb with anytime calls £22/month

or bb and w/e calls ( does not include midweek ev calls) £17/month

thay did offer the option of paying advance line rental @ £119.40

undecided as yet who to trust as my next ISP

I took the free television + free broadband offer from Sky when moving from Be/O2, just pay line rental. They've been great so far, just as good as Be ever where. Only downside is no static IP if that's what you're after.
  • I would recommend TalkTalk been with them a few years never had any problems.

abr: I was asked by Sky if I was interested in Sky TV and said no so not sure why you were tied to having Sky TV. I called Sky/O2 at least four or five times for information or clarification of the packages. The Sky customer advisers I spoke to were always extremely helpful so it's perhaps worth double checking about free broadband and/or why you aren't able to get a better deal.

sirmosh: Good to know things are going well with Sky. Crossed fingers everything is okay. Customer service has been great so far. Hoping the switch will go without a hitch. :)

helpneeded2014: Thanks for the suggestion of them. Hopefully you'll always be okay with TalkTalk. Unfortunately I have beeen through billing and\or customer service hell and back with BT and TalkTalk. None of these providers were able to match O2 for reliability and customer service. With ISP's, that counts for a lot these days.
