Incorrect price display in Carphone Warehouse
After several months of looking at Smartphones I was ready to buy a Samsung galaxy 3 mini from Carphone W . I wanted the blue surround which was the one on display in the shop with the price I expected . However , when the member of staff went to get me one , I was told that the blue surround would cost an extra £40 ( compared to white or red) . I walked out as I think that this difference should be on display . Is this common with other suppliers ? I have resisted ordering from Amazon but am now more tempted to do so .

That is what I had thought. I have just popped back into the shop to check that I didn't misread it but I was right. The blue surround is on display with a price display that shows all 3 available colours with absolutely no mention of a price difference. I saw another customer looking at it so mentioned the price difference to him. He also preferred the blue and didn't know about the higher price.0 -
SIM free are showing at £289.85 for blue and white online at CPW and £259.95 for red and the Fleur design one.
Their PAYG upgrade prices for the three colours are all £229.95 online and £219.95 for Fleur.0 -

I have just looked at their website but couldn't find any SIM free prices. I already have a rolling SIM only contract (not arranged through CW) which I want to use so assume that I can't use their PAYG upgrade . The shop assistant said that it was £259.95 for red/white and almost £300 for blue (I didn't see the exact figure on her screen so it might have been £289). I walked out on principle because the price was not correctly displayed.0 -
Indeed. Giving a misleading indication of price is a breach of Regulation 5(4)(g) of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.0

SIM free prices at bottom of list to the right of phone picture. Click colour options on left and prices change accordingly.
Check the PAYG without upgrade prices perhaps. Blue appears to be available for £249.95 + £10 top up on O2 for instance.0 -
Actually, why not buy SIM free from ASDA Direct for £199

Buy a small can of blue paint in a pound shop if the colour is that important to you.0

If the OP was going to pay £300 they might as well go for the S4 Mini, or hang on for the HTC One Mini.
Personally I'd take the Motorola RAZR i for £150 over the S3 Mini if I wanted a compact handset.NFH wrote:Indeed. Giving a misleading indication of price is a breach of Regulation 5(4)(g) of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.0
