OMG my electricity bill!!!!

If you have 'only' used 1479 units for 3.5 months over the coldest part of the year your useage is likely to justify a Direct Debit of approx £25-30 a month.
However I cannot see a house that has electric heating(?) having so little consumption.
Are you sure this is not a bill for all your electric - less heating - and you have another meter for heating?
It doesn't add up.0 -

Electricity used 1479 units - 1 unit is 1 kilowatt (kWh)
for first 269 kWh at 13.236 pence per kWh
for last 1210 kwh at 7.475 pence per kWh
Cost of electricity used £126.05
VAT £6.30
Less balance b/fwd cr £284.49
Less your payments cr £480.00
Balance carried forward credit £632.14
THEY SAY WE ARE NOT IN CREDIT BUT THE BILL SAYS WE ARE £632.14 IN CREDIT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HELP!!!
Well the figures do add up 480(payment)+284.49(credit)=764.49
764.49-126.05(gas used)-6.30(VAT)=632.14(new credit balance)
So why are you in so much credit?
They add up, but they might not be right. You need to talk the company. Also, the last time I was on a key meter I dont recall getting a bill - I just used the meter and key (maybe they sent a summary, but not a bill) Try looking at the last bill to see if you were shown in credit then (by 284.49), that might help because if not there is an error0 -
Agreed the figures add up. Perhaps I should have said it doesn’t make sense.
Why a £120 a month (he pays that – presumably by DD?) when useage suggests £25-30 would be adequate? I could understand if there had been a large debit balance to clear by raising the DD for a while.
Why do “they”(presumably Electricity Board) say Lee is not in credit, when the bills indicate he is.
What is the Key meter for, if he has a DD and gets ‘normal’ bills?
I still think 1,479Kw is suspiciously low consumption for 3.5 months over the coldest part of the year in a property using standard rate, instead of off-peak, electricity for heating.
More information needed.0 -
Cardew I wasnt responding to your 'it doesnt add up', I was trying to help Lee (though I see why you might have taken exception now!). And I agree that more info is needed on the billing details0
