This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

I hope I haven't started another duplicate thread but I couldn't find one for today.

Hester - am so sorry to hear you have been ill and hope you are recovering now. It's very good to see you back here.

Jools - how is your eye/face today? I am another one who has suffered shingles and needed to be referred by my GP to the local eye hospital, as they needed to check it was not in the optic nerve. If it's no better, please get it checked again today.

Judi - warmest congratulations on the new arrival. I can't wait to hear more about him today.

We had a lot of rain overnight and the sun is coming out again now. I think it's forecast as sun and showers over the next few days so looks like being very changeable. The washing will need to be watched carefully!

Need to get some bits and pieces of fresh shopping today. DH is craving carbs so am going to have a go at making cauliflower mash and will have that with Venetian liver for dinner. Also want to make some lamb kebabs for tomorrow and some for the freezer.

Have a few ebay things to list today as have only just realised it's a free listing weekend.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning :hello:

Hester I hope you're feeling OK xxx

Congratulations Judi :j :T

It was a bit muggy til about 4.30pm yesterday, then it quickly cooled off. I decided to go outside with a cuppa, I was halfway to the door and suddenly heard a few loud bangs, I thought someone had broken in so raced back to the lounge and realised it was the windows banging where the wind had picked up :D Then it hammered down, I couldn't shut the windows fast enough and the carpets got wet. I got soaked just running out the back door to unhook and close it. As soon as I'd finished closing everything, the rain eased off. So I went back round the house and opened everything back up :D It was still raining when I went to bed, not heavily though.

No rain this morning. It's very cool though, if it stays like this I'll have to put the duvet back on the bed. I hate putting the cover on the duvet, it's king size, I'm short, and I always get in a tangle :D It's supposed to be mr tru's job but I always seem to end up doing it.

Not sure what I'm doing today, I can't even find the energy to have a shower, lol. I keep thinking "just one more coffee....."

• Good morning all,
We had a fair amount of rain early evening last night. Odd claps of thunder too. It was still quite muggy afterwards though. Still didn't sleep very well. Sunny today but it does feel a little cooler than it has been.
Judi, congratulations to you on the birth of your grandson . Very best wishes to your dd :j. Can't wait to hear all about him x
Dd's are off to work soon.We will have tea tonight before hubby goes to work. Roast chicken, hg potatoes and veg. We have got to go and dig the potatoes up as i haven't got anymore in the rack.
Did all of the ironing yesterday. Hoovered and polished everywhere so hopefully a lazy day.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning everyone

Hester - hope you're now on the road to recovery, take it easy x

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Bright sunny and blustery here this morning.

Had a couple of really busy days - Friday night was mum and dad's Golden Wedding Anniversary party - for their close family and friends - was a really lovely party at a gorgeous venue - we were able to sit in the garden room and out on the patio as it was still warm on Friday evening until really late. Saw lots of friends and family that we don't get to see that often.

Then yesterday my parents, bro and his partner, and my sisters their hubbies and children and hubby and our boys all went to the campsite by the coast where they are all camping - we just went for the day yesterday - unfortunately the weather wasn't as good and there was a sea mist hanging all day but it still wasn't cold and I spent all day up until 7pm in shorts and a sun top. We assisted with pitching of tents, had some lunch, then walked from the site to the beach - it's a really nice beach and great that you can walk it from the site - the kids all went in th sea. We had a commual bbq for dinner last night, we'd all taken bits, different salads, new potatoes, french sticks, rolls, chicken, chicken kebabs, pork kebabs, sausages, burgers, venison burgers, I had some fish cooked on the bbq, pasta salads etc, for dessert we had choc tart, raspberry tart or pavlovas, with fresh strawberries and cream - all eaten outside and washed down with wine/beer/soft drinks/squash - was very nice that everyone was able to sit outside together to eat. We didn't get back until 10.30pm last night and was raining, that was forecast to rain heavily during the night and looks like it certainly did do as everywhere was wet underfoot when I got up to use the bathroom early on but it's now bright and sunny and drying up nicely.

When we got to the campsite my bro and 1 sis and her hubby and family had picked where they wanted to pitch their tents and were busily getting organised, they had pitched near some other tents where the people had gone off out for the day. Later on as we were cooking the dinner one of my boys came back and said I think those people in the tents next door are people we caravanned with and they want you or dad to go and see them, when I went over it was a couple and their children with friends that we caravanned with and were quite good friends with until they sold their caravan 4 years ago and we hadn't seen them since - so had a lovely chat with them and was good to catch up briefly - small world or what! The campsite has 3 different fields that are all large so the chances of being next door to someone that you know and haven't seen for years is quite slim!

We will have a relaxed chilled day not having to do too much - but we do want to go to the caravan to take some bits and put some more bits in, this will mean we won't have to take soo much next week.

Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!

Keep safe and well x

Good Morning everyone :j

I'm having a bit of a bad day already so some hugs would be appreciated.:o Off to church in a little while so hopefully that will help. I think the problem is that I now have to hide how I'm feeling as I don't want to do anything to jeopardise hubby's job so I will soldier on. All the signs are there though with out of control eating, out of control spending and crying when I'm on my own though so no one sees it. Sorry to dump all this.

Other news. I see there is a new baby born yesterday. :)Congratulations and well done to the mum. It seems like 5 minutes since all mine were tiny and now they are so grown up it's scary. DD12 got rid of all her dolls a couple of days ago to make room for her makeup.

There are quite a few people on here that are not feeling very well. Sending you warmest wishes and hugs and hope you make a full recovery soon.

Oh well, off to put a brave face on and face the world. Hope everyone gets to enjoy the rest of the weekend. Take care.
Cheers m'dears x
