Hi becky - it's in Suffolk.......but you have to run it to get your easter egg. Mind you, it is only 10k so it should be a doddle for you!!

I've got as far as getting my running kit on today.......still need to make that extra effort to go outside though - I have been as far as the tumble drier - today is pretty chilly, but dry, so I will be ok once I get started........it is the getting started bit that is proving difficult today :o

Me too Hypno - I've just eaten a bagel so need to wait an hour or two now anyway - whoops!

Oooo I like Suffolk, I might investigate that one, I could tie it in with a visit to see some friends of mine in Stowmarket :D
  • Good morning everyone!:D :D

Its a big running day around the country today with lots of races going on.

For me though boxing day is about very, very easy running to deal with yesterday's pigging!:p So when I've woken up I'll do a gentle 10K later on!

    What's everyone else's plans today?

It sounds like your chocolate desires are going to be well and truly satisfied for the next few days, Becky. Don't overdo it though, otherwise you might get charged an 'excess weight' fee on your flight.:p :p

I'd have to put on my own body weight first :D and even then I'd prob not be the fatest person on the plane - it is America after all ;)

Isnt Idio running a race today or did I remember that wrongly??

becky, if you do make it up here at Easter, it would be fab to see you!

I am hoping to do 5 miles today - the plan being 5 miles today, perhaps 7 or 8 on Sunday, then a couple of 4-6 milers before doing the 10k next Thursday. Then after that I will crank up my milage for FLM - my Sunday runs need to be getting a bit longer.

Once I have done my run, I can polish off the box of chocs sitting tantalisingly close by.........

  • Becky - You're probably right on the weight front, in fact you probably need to double your body weight just to fit in with the locals.:p I don't know whether Idio is racing, no doubt we'll find out later if he is!

Hypno - That sounds like a good lead up to your sub-60 10K!:D :D

Oh yeah - Hypno I'm not going to be around when you run you race since I'll be flying but I'll do my best to check in and find out your time once I arrive :D

I cant wait to regale you lot with tales of running in Central Park :D

I lived in Stowmarket for a little while and commuted to London - its very pretty and friendly and there's some great running around the countryside...can't imagine its much fun in winter in the dark though!

Rich I'm sure he was doing a pudding race today...or somebody was - my memory is terrible!
  • Idio did his pudding run at Merthyr Mawr earlier in December. Although he might be doing another one - after all Idio does like his puddings!:p :p

    Am back....mixed results.

I set off to do 5 miles and chose the route that has no shortcuts back until you get to 4 miles. It is country lanes and surrounded by open fields and it is really windy out there so quite hard.

Anyway, after 2.3 miles my legs gave up and I had to walk for a few mins - once I recovered I sort of turned it in to a fartlek run - picking trees and telegraph poles to run as fast as I could before walking inbetween to the next tree.

so, a very mixed outing today! Cut it short completely at 4 miles. Just plugged my garmin into the computer and no wonder my legs gave in:

    Mile 1 - 9:53
    Mile 2 - 9:35

    :rotfl:

    So negatives
    • I didn't run my full 4 or 5 miles
    Plus points
    • I have discovered the world of sub 10 min running again (albeit for only 2.3 miles
    • I got out and got 45 ish mins of fresh air and exercise when most of the world is collapsed with hangovers on the sofa
    • I still burnt extra calories so can eat my choccies guilt free
