I can run when I'm hungry, but I can't run when I'm full, if that helps?

Thats how I am but immediately after a run I don't feel hungry - then I am starving about an hour later...fitting in eating seems to be a problem...for example tonight is running club.

Will have my lunch about 1pm...then nothing. Running club at 6.30 then run for an hour go home will be about 8pm by then. Not hungry but then at 9pm will be starving...but at this point it is usually my bedtime so have to go to bed on a full stomach.....

I guess the answer is to have something at least between 1pm and 5pm but what:confused: . And go to bed later.....:rotfl:

I need to start training tonight - otherwise I might as well give up. Please feel free to beat me with a big stick if I have not reported a run by 8pm.........

I have printed off a beginners schedule, and have found a 5k to do at the end of next month as a "first step"......so in my head I am getting there. I just need to put that all into actual practice!!

    Hi All,

Not a good day today - supposed to do a 4 mile fartlek (well I do 4.25 but anyway)...managed a mile at a nice fast pace and then my thighs gave up on me, I managed another two miles getting progressively slower and then had to stop with the worst cramp ever in both feet :(

So I walked another 0.5 miles and only managed 3 running today...

So coach I'm not too disappointed it just shows I havent recovered properly from last week - but the question is should I do my usual easy run tomorrow or should I try some more fartlek to make up for todays disappointing run?

Hope everyone else's runs are better!

Okay, with it being the thighs that gave in, as you say, it is almost certainly down to the amount of hilliness on Thursday and Sunday, so nothing to worry about.

What it does show, though, is that you have worked different muscle groups during hill work that don't normally come into play on the flat. Hence, showing the value of hill work.

Its good that you've put it nicely into context straight away. But there is never any need to 'make up' for lost sessions, just follow the plan going forward - more rest is better than less.

So its good - it shows your thighs are going to be stronger in a few days time!!

Ah I wondered if it might be that - they were really struggling on the steps and stairs yesterday...well thats good to know.

I think I only got cramp as I was trying to compensate for the thighs by running slightly oddly.

    Thanks Coach :T

Sammy something like flapjack or a cereal bar would be ok 3 hours before so around 3pm or you can eat bananas right up until you run. I tried that last week and I thought the banana would give me stitch but amazingly no! Should give you that power boost you need to run
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well I'm gonna attempt footy today - although
    a) My legs are a little sore after the run sunday...think they were a little shocked to be out running again

    and

    b) In my post-run wobble I managed to walk straight into the doorframe and *really* hurt my left knee...he seems a lot better today though...guess we'll find out.
