I am aiming to go out Wednesday. I think I will hurt too much tomorrow Donna. So you have got the Nike Shoes that you put the sensor in? Don't worry about the paper, thanks anyway.
Rich going to get you to write me out a training plan I think...Oh god of coaching
I think I will be hurting too much too!
Nah not the shoes, I have some Saucony trainers and a little sensor which goes in a puch which attaches to my laces. I love my Saucony trainers and think I will always stick to that brand of shoe! I got my first pair from a running shop in Bristol and then found similar pairs on the Saucony website and brought replacement pairs from ebay each time! I am very heavy footed so wear them out very quickly:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0 -

HAH not a chance I plagiarised it from someone else's marathon plan which was 18 weeks but there was a 19 week to get you to half so I thought I might as well do the whole lot...
Okay so th plan is forming to do a marathon (I'm bloody mad)...preferably NY but I bet its hard to get into...one 37 weeks away would be great!!!!! But once I get to that stage I can always maintain anyway...
Any ideas?0 -

Mentally, think about starting again next week with just walking and maybe gentle jogging this week. Then work out a plan that has 3 key elements per week (as in previous post), filling the rest of the week with gentle running. If things are getting tough maintain the key elements and sacrifice the 'fill-in' runs.
You will progress in leaps and bounds by making sure your body gets the key sessions and then gets the rest it needs to repair.
Oakey dokey! Will do :T Thanks again, you are a star!:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0 -
Thats ok I have a pouch thing too but I heard somewhere that the sensor needs to be really secure in the pouch otherwise it moves about too much and give an inaccurate reading (which is what I think happened to me)
I have Brookes and I love them too. Got them at a Brilliant shop in Norwich but again will look for a cheap pair online the next time I need themI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Has anybody ever told you - you're bloody mad, girl!
I honestly don't think you'll have a problem, and the reason why, is because you're scared of the distance. The people I worry about are those who think its just a jolly good day out and its easy enough to 'wing it' somehow.
You're not far off what I'm looking at with maybe Berlin in August. You really want a big one for your first race for the atmosphere and encouragement. The good thing is all the big ones are flat! Anyway, you've plenty time to decide which one (it was only this morning when the idea was born after all).

Stop taking the p***!
No problems though. At the end of the day I have been through the pain and wished someone had given me one or two tips how to avoid said pain. It was such a revelation when I got proper advice just how wrong most training is.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

*nervously peeps head around the door* Hi!
I've just started running and I'm rubbish at it but feeling very motivated to get into it properly. I'm very unfit, overweight and haven't exercised properly for ages so starting at the bottom reallyI used to run as a kid, mainly cross country and I loved it. I used to run for the school and the local club, I wasn't brilliant at it but definitely 100 times better than I am now
Reading all this about marathons has made me think about doing one in 2010 as I will hit the big 4-0 in March that year and would like to do something [STRIKE]silly [/STRIKE] memorable. Is this a ridiculous plan or achievable in the timescale involved? Would I be able to follow a training plan off the internet/out of a magazine or would it be better to join a club?Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -

Welcome molly,
always great to see new peeps. and no your not being ridiculous, of course it's achievable and there are plenty of folks on here to give you encouragement. Rich is the one who will probably come up with a plan if you ask him, he's superb at that sort of thing. After all, I can't even run but they all accepted me on here:T :A
So keep posting and enjoy yourself.

Hey Molly! welcome to the madhouse!
I'm a not very fit trying to improve runner so rest assured you're never the only one at any given level round here....
come in, enjoy the chat, sometimes there is nonsense and banter sometimes there is amazing advice... but mostly there are like minded people who will always support and share experiences.......
occaisionally there is talk of toilets, nipplie chaffing, boobies and other such things, so i do hope your're not squeamish!
Spelling/grammar is entirely optional!
My news so far - waiting on my mum coming over so i can go for my first ever early morning swim.........
place your bets now as to how many lenths of a 25m pool i will manage, bearing in mind that my previous best was probably about 12-15 lengths over the course of say maybe an hour......
I'll check in later, i'll be the one asleep at my desk!!
Edit@0930: i was considering correcting these errors, but like i said spelling and grammar are optional!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0
