Anyway, work gym opens next week so I'm going to get on the treadmill for a few weeks before I get back to running outside again - it's very hilly round about me so last time I tried I got put off by how out of breath I was getting, so I think if I build up a bit of fitness first it might be easier...
Have sent off for info about a charity entry to the Edinburgh Marathon - 9 months away!
Hi Red,
I cant do hills either! Isnt the E Marathon going to be hilly as well? Yikes 26 miles and hills - brave you. :T

Some of it is, but the longest bit is along the coast. I will be much fitter by then anyway... I hope! :rotfl:
I did the Breast Cancer charity Moonwalk this year, which is marathon length, it's not as scary once you've done it - hopefully running will take me less than the 9 hours that that did...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Hi RedSquirrel (are they the nice ones or the vermin?),
You're very brave.
The good news is you get fitter much more quickly when you've got hills to train on (unlike those southern softies).
And what great countryside to take your mind off the pain.
You sound like you know what you're doing anyway.
Btw Are you actually Scottish? Or just running in Scotland?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I think there's three levels now..
Red - Nice. (well, as nice as a fundamentally evil species can be)
Grey - Horrible deredsquirrelifiers.
New "Super" squirrels (I wanna say black?) - the baddest of the bunch.0 -

Ok, so Redsquirrel80 is tame enough then. I'm glad about that.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I dunno about knowing what I'm doing, but I was running 3-4 miles several times a week for a while, have done a few 5ks. I lost the motivation over last winter, and when I was training for the walk I didn't have time to run as well!Btw Are you actually Scottish? Or just running in Scotland?
I am Scottish, but I now live in a particularly hilly city in Yorkshire, but fancied Edinburgh as I lived there for years and love the place - plus I have people to stay with when I'm thereDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

she's a lovely girl is our Squizzer! and she's underselling herself fitness wise.... she trained like mad for the moonwalk!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Aww - ain't that cute!!!
I'm confused now though.
I was going to take the 'southern softies' comment back to get Becky back on side, on the basis that there's two Scots in the house and they might gang up.
But now you've said you're in Yorkshire, like me, I probably don't need Becky's help.
So the statement stands!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
