They're brilliant! At the end of the day if it encourages my cat to drink more then I think it's worthwhile.

My eldest cat is 13 now and he's, how can I say it, 'big boned' so I'm always concerned about him having enough fluid just to ensure he's as healthy as he can be now he's an old fella!

The only downside though, is that I would say it's quite noisy sometimes. It's great now I've moved into a bigger house but when I was in a 2 bedroomed flat and the kitchen was next to my bedroom it drove me mad at night!

I've been looking into getting one of those fountains, keep browsing ebay hoping for a bargain to pop out. Plus my OH thinks i'm mad as i treat the cats as if they were my children and love to spoil them with pressies.

As for testing out the milks, soya milk was a big no no, even the baby kittens turned their nose up :(

I know its not essential that they have cat milk, but i do like to spoil them, i feel sorry for them eating the same thing day in day out even though i know they don't care.

Thanks for all the tips guys :T

One of my cats has been diagnosed this week with FLUTD, so I have just researched and sent for a cat fountain to encourage drinking water.

Reviews seem to indicates that the Drinkwell fountain is an all round favourite - cheapest I found was £33 from zooplus, with free delivery and also £3 off so just £30.

If you want a cheaper option, there are several places selling the Cat-It Fountain now for only £15.50 which seems a bargain.

    HTH.
