The arm of BT that install the fibre network (BT Wholesale) don't give a toss who uses it as they collect the same money whether it is ADSL through Openreach or any other independent ISPs.

The part of BT that provides the ADSL trades totally separately to the part that installs and maintains the network infrastructure.

We changed to fibre last year and now get 36 Mbps download and 8 Mbps upload. The fibre junction box is app 200 metres from our house with the remainder in overhead copper. Prior to upgrade we had 14 Mbps download and app 1 Mbps upload, more than happy especially as no extra cost for fibre upgrade, thanks BT.

Sorry - but you are biased and incorrect
I live in a totally residential road - you only have to scan for WiFi signals to see the potential difference that fast broadband will make
The decision is clearly based on the fact that most of the potential users would not be BT.....
BT took on the contract in full knowledge of the T&C - and if they didn't realise that many users would not be using them as ISP's - they deserve all the complaints that they are getting
I, for one - would not invest in such a company........

Unless you know what you are talking about maybe you should refrain from posting on this subject?
The first 2/3rds rollout is 100 per cent funded by Bt and Bt alone. There is no contract. Openreach ar building the infrastructure at a cost of nearly 2.5 billion and are WAY ahead of schedule. Openreach then lease the lines to providers such as sky, car phone and Bt retail.

They invest the money where they believe to be a solid return.

In the same way I invest in Bt because 3 years ago the share price was about 68p, today it is 3.39 - what a moron I am eh?

    Exactly!

Twinkle/Twuncle is as smart as bait and cruelly depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.

All froth, no beer and he doesn't let facts get in the way of a good old rant.
