Purple Parking at Heathrow

Just a quick warning about Purple Parking at Heathrow. Don't be fooled by the advertised 5-8 minute transfer time from car park to terminal. I recently paid £24.95 for a short stay which was one of the best rates i could find online. I turned up at 05.15am and the bus didn't leave before 05.40am, arriving at the terminal at 05.50 - so 35 minutes! On my return to T1, i rang Purple Parking after i had my bag and then stood at the bus stop for 40 minutes! I rang them 3 times and each time they said it'll be there in 5 minutes... I eventually got back to the car park 50 minutes after phoning them the first time.
When i rang customer service, they were very dismissive of my complaint telling me that the bus service was free anyhow and therefore they couldn't help. I asked for a refund and after 2 days they offered me a meagre 50% discount on my next booking.
So the actual service was awful and the customer service was equally bad. AVOID!!!!!!

The 5-8 minute transfer time that they advertise is pretty much correct (not taking into account any extra traffic etc)- the only reason it took longer for you was because the bus didn't actually leave as soon as you arrived (they usually wait for more people to arrive if they are expecting others around the same time)
I also always use Purple Parking and leave about 30-40 mins extra to get from the parking to the airport.
Once i had to wait 40 minutes for the bus to arrive when returning from the airport to the car but to be fair it was snowing a lot
I would use them again, they're pretty good value0 -
I've only ever used them once. Never again.
I paid for a drop the car at check in service and they would take it away and park it, wasn't impressed with the driver. The car was supposed to be delivered back for me to collect after I cleared customs. I was to call a number when in baggage collection which would give them time to bring the car back.
When I rang I was told they didn't have any drivers so couldn't give me a time, so after an 11 hour flight we stood around for over an hour before the car was finally delivered back. The keys were quite literally just thrown at me.
I then discovered an invoice on the dashboard as they had charged me extra because they had the car longer than booked all because of their tardiness on bringing back. When I complained they said they would refund but never did so I complained to the MD of the parent or the booking agent company (NCP?).
He acted very swiftly by apologising and then telling Purple to refund me 50% of the total cost. Which they grudgingly did.
Not very impressed with them at all.
As always they are the cheapest for a reason!0 -
OP - useful to know - I try to use public transport, but the services out of London airports are a disgraceful introduction to the UK to foreign tourists0

We always use the Purple Parking meet-and-greet service at Heathrow. Never had a problem. Using again soon. :j[0

I'm truly surprised that this needs explaining to anyone, but since it clearly does:
If someone says that he encounters every time he used some service, then it makes sense to post saying that you have used the service without problem. That provides some useful information in that it lets people know that the service does work on occasion.
However, when someone posts a warning that something might happen what is the point of making a post saying it might not?
If a family misses their flight and ruins their holiday because there is no transport from the long term car park, just how useful is the information that someone else used the service without issue? There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
What a pointless and unhelpful post!
Don't be so rude. I'm as entitled to express my opinion as anyone else here, and the truth is I've never had an issue with them.
I suggest a course in manners may help your forum etiquette in future you impertinent little boy.
I expressed my opinion because I have never had an issue with them, and I don't particularly want a company that has provided me a good service to be misrepresented by one person's bad experience with them.0
