Fruit cobblers ?

I have been looking for this receipe but can't find it so I have just made it from memory and it looked a bit runny going in the dish. It's in the oven now so its a bit late but I made it with a mug of sugar, a mug of flour and a mug of millk. I just mixed them together and then poured it into a pyrex dish and put two punnets of blueberries on the top (the blueberries were past their best so I had to use them up!). I am a bit worried now because I can't remember her saying to grease the bowl - have I just wasted my stuff????

Did you use self raising flour as that's what the original recipe called for? Everything else sounds right.

I can't remember if the dish was supposed to be greased but it's no great problem if it should have been, it's not the kind of dessert that will be ruined if it's a bit stuck I don't think, it doesn't matter if it falls apart a bit when you're serving it up/prising it out. Not in my opinion anyway!

I have made it several times and never greased the dish i used a pyrex shallow oval dish and it was 1 cup of each but as i have more in my family i used 1 cup of sugar but 2 of flour and milk and that was fine

S'okay, I don't mind sharing! Black Saturn's version was the same, only bigger! And it wasn't my original idea, it came from a recipe book called "More with Less".

I first made it from the More With Less book too ;) Love that book. But I found BS's version worked well, but that may be because I'd already made it from More With Less and I knew what to expect and how long to cook it etc.

More With Less by Doris Janzen Longacre - well worth getting. :)
  • Thanks to you all for your replies - I've got the more with less book so I am going to have a good read of it today!! The cobbler was lovely - it smelt really good and I had a bowl of it for supper last night!!

Thanks to Chipps and BS for bringing it to my attention!!

Is the More with Less book still in print? My search on amazon has been fruitless!
