I've been watching Don't Tell the Bride!

Not done much in the way of wedding, if you discount pinterest that is! Made a plan for the next few months though, also bought 30 day shred do to before my dress fitting!
  • My list of things done:
Venue Booked & Deposit Paid - 20 rooms reserved
    Registrar Booked
    Notice Given (woo!)
    Bridesmaid Dresses Bought (&in Hand!)
    Usher Dress Bought
Men's Suit Hire decided on (need to book and pay for - Formallyyours)
HTB's Ring Picked (not ordered - but ring sizer bought so we can decide on size!)
Photographer Found and Verbally Agreed (Contract and deposit still tbd)
Photo taken to use as STD
Dresses tried on and idea of likely dress/dress design decided on but nothing ordered.
Friend asked to create our 'Logo' to be used on customised items
Talked to florist and quote requested
Talked to hair/make up lady think only going to have hair done but need to let her know!

Still quite a lot to do, but feel much better after talking to tog/florist.

    Eeep!

Hoping to be May 24th, but it's yet to be definitive! So far, nothing is booked but we've done a fair amount of planning.

OH is French and we are getting married in his home village in Provence (we live in Switzerland, so going back and forth to make the arrangements is easier by car than by plane, if we'd chosen the UK).

Although I speak French, making the arrangements is a small headache as things are not exactly the same as in the UK. For example, in France, they invite everyone to a cocktail/aperitif straight after the ceremony (called the Vin d'honneur) and then in the evening, only the closet friends and family stay for the sit-down meal. We want to do it the British way, as it's better, but trying to sort this with venues and caterers is a pain!

I have to keep nagging OH to speak to the town hall and sort out the admin arangements as we need to be interviewed by an officer of the state with all our documents (especially me, a foreigner!) before they will grant us a date (that said, they only do a couple of weddings a year so it should be OK for May 24).

    Happy preparations to all!
Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one. :)

    32 and mortgage-free :D

I'm glad I haven't booked much for mine, as I keep changing my mind on things. Currently thinking about having a Harpist for the ceremony music, will have to talk to him about that one! I've got to pin him down on a lot of things, so hopefully we'll have a big wedding planning session soon and get a bunch of things decided on.

Ok, I hated the reception venue we did have, it was at the church and no music or dancing was allowed, so I've been scouting around for a new one, and I think I've found one! I emailed them for info and it seems a reasonable price, have got to figure out food though, but they give a list of places they will allow from outside to cater. I just emailed them back with a few questions, so hopefully I'll have my venue soon!!

Although my H2B doesn't think it's good, he thinks we should stick with the church one and just sit around and talk for hours, that's not me!

Decided that I can deal with the reception being quiet and everything if it's not in the evening but a lunch reception! So moving the ceremony to 11am, and should be all wrapped up by 3pm! Means we'll be on honeymoon for our wedding night. Saves us a bunch of money too, which'll help for when we move.

8 months to go now, how's everyone else doing?
  • Oh, that sounds so nice! I order my save the dates from vistaprint on Tuesday night. They are very basic & i'm a bit nervous about them as I designed them myself. I'm also starting to pick up bits and pieces like lace ribbon for the order of services (to tie the pages together), subbuteo players (will be using these as name place, H2B is football crazy!) and starting to think about the invites too which won't go out until Jan/Feb time. Two of my bridesmaids & two friends are coming down to London for the Brides wedding show in October too, hoping to get my BMs to make a decision on a dress! So difficult. But yeah I'm slowly making progress.
  • May 3rd for me! Got engaged in Spain two weeks ago today...
We are getting married in the registry office early in the morning, just us and the witnesses followed by our 'proper' wedding in our garden in the afternoon (humanist).
The reception is being in a marquee in our village pub garden approximately 3 minutes walk away.
    So far we've booked the:
    Registry office
    Humanist
    Marquee
    Caterer
    Still waiting on the photographer.

Going to try dressed on October 5th 😄
