  • Dhalliday: We're sharing the same weekend so it'll be great to compare with you how you're getting on. I'm impressed you've sorted so much!

Kacie: My MOH has offered to do so but think it would be better to have the two others try on dresses in UK/ROI and then ship her sizes she can try. We have decided on a style we all like and roughly the colour, now it's a matter of finding a dress that is an appropriate length (above the knee but not above !!! cheeks) for three 5'7", 5'9" and 6'0" beauties!

It was always going to be tricky having my emigrated sis as my MOH but I wouldn't have it any other way. I have one regret in asking her: She's going to be so tanned after her summer in Oz and my translucent celtic skin will be even more evident :rotfl:

Hyzenflay: that dress is so cute!! I'm imagining some lovely photos of spinning BMs!!
  • I'm getting married in May 2014 too, the 16th!

In terms of planning I'm definitely getting there, but then again we have been planning this for well over a year so far.
  • Also May 16th here. I am just DREADING the whole organisation of it all - so not me, and I feel like I'm the only one. Everything is so expensive and for me it's far more about the MARRIAGE than the WEDDING. Not a fan of being the centre of attention and refuse to spend a small fortune on just one day. How cynical do I sound? Sorry!

So far have booked the date, we're getting married in the Town Hall as it's cheapest. We're not having a meal as such, but just close friends and family are going to a restaurant before our night time reception which is basically just going to be a disco with a party and a buffet.

It sounds boring to some perhaps, but I know I'll enjoy it anyway and that's all that matters really.

Still have to decide on a reception venue. Have a few we're considering but nothing decided yet. My brother in law is a DJ so he's providing that for us as a wedding gift. I have a couple of friends that I can potentially ask to be the photographer for a small fee. Other than that, NOTHING else is done and it already feels so overwhelming even though there's lots of time until then :(

Kacie, I am also getting married on 24th May next year. We only made the decision last week!!

This will be my second time round (got married at 21 first time round after being together since I was 15, far too young!Oh, and he couldnt keep it in his pants!!)

Anyway, I did the whole big wedding last time with 120 people I hardly ever see, a horse and carriage no expense spared. This time round I know all that is important is that I want to be my other halfs wife. We are going for a relaxed day, getting married at a hotel on the river near where we live, weather permitting we will get married outside in a Gazebo, then have 2 12 seater punts with champagne and canapes, then a bit of mingling and our wedding breakfast. Will be just 24 people including us (only immediate family).

Got venue booked, bought Sottero & Midgley dress second hand from preloved that fits like a glove and cost me £250 instead of £1500! and booked registrar. Most of what needs organising is included in the package we have gone for so not much to do really :0)

    Hi ttmc07, wedding twin! :D

Don't worry about the organisation of it all, as you say we've got lots of time and if you do little bits here and there it will soon add up! It seems you've done quite a bit already, and don't forget you can get things sorted pretty quickly if you need to - I found my dress in a week and only two visits to a shop!

    Good luck!

Aww you're not the only one!! It's a scary daunting task to plan a wedding, just remember though it's your wedding and you can have it as casual and informal as you like! :) We're having a registry office town hall wedding then renting a cheap local hall and decorating it ourselves, having a buffet etc, nice and casual and a lot cheaper than a formal wedding! Really enjoying getting the chance to make table centre pieces and bouquets etc myself, saw the prices in the shops and thought sod that I can do it myself for less and it'll look just as good hopefully :D Still dreading standing up there in front of everyone at the actual wedding part though, scared stiff and hate being the centre of attention!!!

Agreed, I found my dress in the first shop I went in, went to another just to be sure but went back to the first and tried the dress back on with a veil and bought both then!

My fiance has started on our wedding website, this I've decided to leave to him, need to discuss where we are going to have our gift registry though so he can put that on our site.
  • I have my dress!! Total clich!d story; first dress I tried on! It's beautiful :)

Now, need to get working on our wedding website and save-the-dates!

I've got an appointment booked for 28th September for bridesmaid dress shopping and photographer booked.

My H2B's mum is making our wedding favours, I just need to buy some packaging for them.

I think all I have left to do just now is arrange appointments for my H2B and his best man for kilt fittings and little bits and bobs.

    How's everyone else getting on?
