Who else is getting married in May 2014?
I get married on May 24th! Less than 10 months to go now and still have loads to do. Since I'm getting married in America though a lot of it has to wait until I'm there in November!
So far I have:
- Church/venue booked, with rehearsal the day before
- Dress bought and on order, with veil
- Buffet planned, but needing to be discussed in detail
- Theme/colours sorted
- Favours discussed, but needing to be sorted
So not much, how far have you all got?

May 10th for me!
We got engaged last month and thought we'd take things slow as May is ages away yet... but i'm getting thoroughly carried away and can't stop organising, help it's getting a bit addictive!!! Think i'll have everything bought by October if I keep this up. We have the registry office booked, reception venue booked, and I just bought my wedding dress this week! Though that was only because I found the perfect dress cheap in a sale
We've decided to go for a casual relaxed sort of wedding, registry office then local hall, no best man or maid of honour etc, no speeches, etc, just something simple and quite small and reasonably priced. Now I just need to figure out how to make a smaller guest list that'll still keep all the families happy!:D0 -
I'm getting married 26th May. Booked registrar & venue, photographer & DJ. My dress is ordered & have bought all my jewellery & veil & hairband (all in the sale). Bought bms dresses & shoes, & their jewellery.
I'm planning on making bouquets using a mixture of brooches, pearls & paper roses. I've got all the stuff to make them but haven't started yet, the weather is far too nice to be stuck inside crafting0 -
I'm a May 2014 bride too; Friday 30th! I'm woefully under prepared. I have:
- a church
- a priest
- a reception venue
- a photographer.
I really need to get started on finding a dress but am so daunted!
Really fancy doing my own invites (with a lot of help from MOB and hopefully MIL).0 -

I'm sure you'll def be able to make the invites yourself. I made my own save the date cards & it was actually a lot easier than I thought. Plan on doing my own invites as well.
Have a look on pinterest & etsy, there's loadsa beautiful stuff on there to give u inspiration but which cud, imho, be done quite easily (& much cheaper!) at home.
And lucky u having help, I'll prob end up doing all mine on my own!0 -
Ours is in May, the 17th. I am woefully underorganised, I have terrible over-research decision paralysis problems so only have a venue (which I wobble about every day) and registrar. Chosen BM dresses, and going to order them soon, but ehm... that's it!0

I totally understand the "over-research paralysis problems" Hyzenflay. I have a million pinterest boards! I'm trying to stay away from wedding magazines as that's just fuel to the fire!! I really need to stop internet browsing & start looking at dresses! Go you getting your BM dresses sorted; my BMs are a little complicated. MOH is in Australia, one in Ireland (where the wedding will be) and another in England (where I am). But I think we've decided on a style we all like so now to find a dress that we can ship to Australia for the MOH to try on :rotfl:0 -

Is it possible that your MOH can try dresses on there and take photos to show you, then buy it and you pay her back? You can tell her the style and colour you are thinking of, maybe show her photos of ones you like and see if she can find one similar. Could be less hassle than finding one and shipping it there and then it might not fitting right and needing to be altered.0 -

I spent more time looking at BM dresses than lots of other things, my sister finally found one on google and I asked them all what they thought, all said they liked it, but would want a couple changes (they are halter, some prefer real straps/no straps) (it is this one I can't link to it as I'm too new, but if you search "White & Purple Floral Pin-Up Rockabilly Prom Dress black butterfly" it is the one at black buttefly clothing for reference)
I thought it was complicated enough having them all over this country but with yours in Aus/Ireland I can see how that would make it hard! Hope you find a way to make it work!0 -
I hope you don't mind me joining in.
I'm also a May 2014 bride, Saturday 31st May :j
When we started planning I thought I'd done really well but it has all come to a bit of a halt now, I have organised:
- Ceremony/reception venue
- My dress
- DJ
- Flowers
Still to organise the rest, I keep thinking I'm forgetting things to arrange. I've got appointments this week with photographers, they're all so expensive. I'm comparing three (one a family friend, one very reasonable and one a litte more expensive).0
